The Digital Content Producer is responsible for updating the KRQE website, curating high-performing content, crafting strong SEO headlines, and helping to report news — everything from quick-hit local stories to breaking news and enterprise reports. This role plays a vital part in building and growing a loyal local audience by responding to traffic trends, audience interests, and emerging news stories while serving as a trusted steward of the KRQE brand. The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller with excellent news judgment, a passion for digital innovation, and the ability to thrive under deadline pressure while collaborating with a talented and supportive newsroom team dedicated to serving communities throughout New Mexico.Monitor all forms of media (print, TV, digital, blogs and social) and be quick to report breaking news stories and always on the hunt for exclusive and or trending content that will grow engagement and drive loyal, local trafficExcellent at writing headlines that grow audience and engagementPrioritize packaging content that grows page views per visitor and time on site, using headline testing, metric tools and observed patterns to guide decision makingCurate and aggregate a steady stream of interesting content that is packaged and promoted in a way that generates engagement and repeat site visitationUnderstand different ways to tell a story, particularly producing short videos and choosing great photosEvaluate website traffic trends to make decisions on both daily content needs and longer-term content curation that will grow local audienceBuild positive working relationships with newsroom staff and management, work collaboratively on enterprise content, and creating opportunities to market web content on broadcastPromote and distribute news content on social mediaPerforms other duties as assigned Skills/Experience:Minimum of two years of experience in digital content and journalismCapable of researching, interviewing, and writing original news articlesClever headline writer that gets readers to clickStrong multi-tasking abilitiesOrganized, technical problem solver and quick decision makerKnowledge of SEO best practices and AP StyleEnjoys working in teams and has excellent interpersonal skillsEase with/ability to learn new technology independently and quicklyStrong communicatorSome schedule flexibility (nights, weekends)Regularly meets measurements of successStrong understanding of Google Analytics and proficiency in Microsoft Office required; experience with Chartbeat, HTML, CSS, and Photoshop preferred.SCAM ALERT: Please be aware candidates may be at risk of being targeted by scammers seeking personal data or money.
