Introduction to the job

As MS LO Tool Maintenance & Repair Execution Team Lead, you will be part of the Tool Center department within Logistics Operations. The Tool Center teams are responsible for the timely registration of new tools, delivery and return of tools to EF, TF and D&E users, quality check of tools after use, and timely repair & maintenance of tools.

Your main mission within the Tool Center department will be to organize and coach your team to execute a fast and high quality tool repair & maintenance execution   process, with the goal to optimize time-to-repair with the highest quality and lowest cost possible, resulting in fast tool availability, tool compliance, and high quality and safe to use tools for the tool users at EF, TF and D&E.

Role and responsibilities

The Team Lead Tool Repair & Maintenance Execution will lead a team of 10-15 technicians and logistics professionals, responsible for two main elements:

  • Internal Tool Repair: your team works with EF, TF and D&E to ensure a fast intake on tools on which an MN/DN is logged, meaning the tool is defect. The intake will result in either a repair in the cabin / work center, or a further assessment at Tool Center. Based on this assessment, there are various options to resolve the MN/DN:
    • The technicians in your team are able to repair the tool immediately with available spare parts and/or technical skills
    • Spare parts need to be ordered from external suppliers to repair the tool. The tool will be stored outside the cleanroom until the spare parts arrive at ASML, at which point the tool will be repaired.
    • The tool needs to be send to the supplier for repair, at which point it will be handed over to the Repair & Maintenance Support team for logistical processing
    • In case the tool can not be repaired, in case it will be scrapped after getting scrap approval from the tool owner.
  • Internal Tool Maintenance: your team also works with EF, TF and D&E to ensure a timely preventive maintenance execution of tools. Preventive maintenance typically has an annual interval and can consists of calibration, certification, physical control, etc. For compliant use of tools, timely preventive maintenance of tools is critical. This can either be performed by external supplier when specific technical skills or supplier knowledge is needed, in which case it is coordinated by the Repair & Maintenance Support team, or by the Technicians in your team in case your technicians have the in-house knowledge to execute the preventive maintenance.
  • Spare Part & Logistics Management: your team is responsible for identifying and maintaining a pro-active stock of spare parts to ensure fast repair of tools, based on breakdown history, spare part lead times, costs and other parameters. It is also responsible for ensuring tools are made complete again if returned incomplete after usage in the factory. Lastly, your team is also responsible for ensuring tools with an MN/DN are picked up and delivered back to the work centers in a timely fashion.
  • Tool Lifecycle Management: your team will drive continuous improvements in the lifecycle of a tool. The ambition is to be involved in an early stage when new tools are introduced, and be an active sparring partner for the factories in ongoing design & usage improvements during the lifetime of a tool, resulting in increased tool availability and decreased tool repair costs.

We are looking for an empathic and strong people leader who can lead this team and the individual team members towards best in class performance and a continuous improvement mindset. You will do this by building constructive relationships with your internal stakeholders (EF & TF factories, D&E) and external suppliers and by initiating and sponsoring improvement proposals and successfully driving these to closure. Key responsibilities in your role include:

  • People management: ensure adequate organization and staffing to realize your team’s targets. Ensure proper execution of HR policies and procedures. Coaches your team members, delegate tasks, set priorities, solve problems and contribute to a productive and collaborative work environment. Set personal targets for your team members, regularly evaluating their performance.
  • Daily Performance Management: observe and steer day to day execution through daily performance management meetings at tier 1 / tier 2 level. Responsible for solving issues and preventing reoccurrence, and for ensuring execution of processes in line with agreed ways of working.
  • Tactical Performance Management: define, review and improve performance, quality and cost in the tool repair process with internal stakeholders (especially EF & TF).
  • Safety: ensures a safe work environment for your team and a proactive safety mindset within your team.
  • Quality: responsible for the high quality execution of logistical processes to support tool repair & maintenance.
  • Continuous Improvement: initiate and sponsor process improvement proposals and successfully driving these to closure, ensuring high quality and cost effective execution of your team’s responsibilities. Participate in cross-sector improvement projects.
  • Collaboration: sets up & promotes effective and open cooperation with other Logistics Operations  departments, the EF & TF factories, D&E, and external suppliers.
