Job Description
Our Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) team is passionate about bringing our medicines and vaccines to our customers around the world while maintaining worker health and safety as our number one priority. The EHS Specialist provides technical and regulatory support to the site and assists the Global Safety & Environment (GSE) team with implementing all necessary measures and initiatives required by federal, state and local safety & environmental regulations.
Position Description
With management direction, the EHS Specialist is responsible for integrating EHS programs into daily operations to assure safe, compliant operations at the West Point site. The successful candidate will work with key business stakeholders to achieve continuous performance improvement and meet EHS performance objectives. They will also partner with operations to develop objectives to achieve these objectives in alignment with site business goals and values. They will work closely with operating areas at the site to ensure awareness of corporate EHS standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
Primary activities include:
Completing hazard assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, process hazard analysis, life safety reviews, and incident investigations.
Reviewing processes, facilities, procedures and management of change documents to assure conformance to recognized EHS regulations, corporate EHS standards and guidelines.
Providing support to operations groups in completing injury/illness analysis, training, self-assessments and addressing specific EHS concerns as they are raised.
Developing EHS procedures, guidelines and training programs as assigned.
Participating in action-oriented EHS committees.
Providing EHS support for facility management, maintenance engineering and site services division (Global Workplace and Enterprise Services).
Managing EHS information and compliance using site’s EHS management systems.
Performing area inspections for compliance including periodic documentation review.
Supporting implementation of compliance initiatives for operating areas.
Assisting with EHS data collection, modeling, regulatory report submissions, and training development/delivery.
Managing EHS self-assessment program and standards implementation tracking.
Tracking and communicating EHS score card metrics.
Participating in regulatory inspections and assisting in addressing noted concerns and citations.
Required Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required, concentration in Engineering, Safety or Environmental related technical discipline preferred.
Basic level of proficiency in the areas of occupational and process safety, environmental compliance, problem solving, critical and analytical thinking.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Self-motivated & innovative problem solver.
Minimum 3 years of applied professional EHS work experience.
Preferred:
Relevant professional certification(s) preferred including CSP and/or CIH.
Knowledge of contractor management and chemical management programs

The salary range for this role is
$87,300.00 - $137,400.00This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.
The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
