Position Summary:

The Senior Software Engineer – Kubernetes Platform Engineering, Service Mesh & Developer Platforms(Golang APIs) serves as a senior technical leader responsible for defining, designing, and delivering the next generation of cloud-native platform capabilities across the bank's enterprise container ecosystem. This role provides technical leadership for platform APIs, Kubernetes automation, service mesh enablement, CI/CD modernization, and developer self-service capabilities that support large-scale application onboarding and lifecycle management.

The individual will lead the architecture and engineering of highly scalable, secure, and resilient platform services while establishing engineering standards, automation patterns, and best practices adopted across multiple teams. This role requires deep expertise in Kubernetes, Golang development, platform engineering, service mesh technologies, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures, combined with the ability to influence technical direction and drive strategic initiatives.

The engineer will partner closely with architecture, security, networking, SRE, DevOps, and application teams to deliver enterprise-grade platform solutions that improve developer productivity, strengthen governance and compliance, and accelerate adoption of container technologies across the organization.

This role requires a strong ownership mindset, technical leadership, and the ability to solve complex engineering challenges while helping shape the future direction of the Foundational Platform Engineering team. The team serves as the engineering foundation for the bank's container ecosystem, delivering API-driven automation, self-service onboarding, governance, compliance, and lifecycle management capabilities across Red Hat OpenShift (OCP), Amazon EKS, Azure AKS, Rancher, and on-premises Kubernetes platforms. The solutions built by this team establish common platform services and automation frameworks that enable application teams to securely and efficiently consume container technologies at scale, regardless of the underlying platform.

In addition to hands-on engineering responsibilities, this role is expected to provide technical mentorship, influence engineering strategy, drive platform modernization initiatives, and contribute to the long-term architecture and roadmap of the bank's container and cloud-native platforms. The engineer will play a key role in advancing strategic initiatives involving Kubernetes platform automation, GitOps, service mesh adoption, API-driven platform engineering, observability, compliance automation, and hybrid cloud enablement, supporting the bank's next generation of cloud-native applications and foundational platform services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the design and engineering approach for complex features are consistent with the larger portfolio solution.

  • Conduct research, design prototyping and other exploration activities such as evaluating new toolsets and components for release management, CI/CD, features, etc.

  • Help define the technology tool stack for the solution. Evaluate and adapt new testing tool/framework/practices for team(s).
