Job Summary
Sandvik is seeking applications from motivated individuals for Technical Specialist Digitalization based in Balikpapan.
This role supports digitalization and technology enablement across customer sites and Sandvik operations by combining technical field expertise, data-driven problem solving, equipment connectivity, automation support, and stakeholder training. This position can work unsupervised in workshops and/or at the customer site/field.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and support digitalization initiatives that improve operational efficiency, productivity, equipment reliability, and customer value.
Implement and support digital tools, connected equipment solutions, automation-related systems, dashboards, and data capture processes for Sandvik equipment and service operations.
Set up equipment connectivity to customer networks and support commissioning or troubleshooting of onboard/offboard automation and digital systems.
Set up, and support commissioning with Sandvik navigation system that on board on the Sandvik machine,
Conduct technical data management, download control-system data, support software upgrade activities, and translate equipment data into practical recommendations.
Use data analytics to identify trends, recurring issues, utilization gaps, and improvement opportunities for service, maintenance, and customer operations.
Provide specialist-level technical support and advice to customers, service teams, Product Masters, Equipment Division, and other stakeholders.
Prepare clear technical reports, case feedback, and improvement recommendations using relevant systems such as TIM, TFM, CPI, or other applicable Sandvik reporting channels.
Train, coach, and support technicians and end-users in digital tools, service methods, equipment systems, and safe operating practices.
Collaborate with local, regional, and global teams to align digital solutions with business needs, customer requirements, and Sandvik standards.
Continuously review and improve processes, tools, and methods to support digital adoption and sustainable performance improvement.
COLLABORATION WITH OTHER BUSINESS LINE
As part of a matrix organization, collaborate with Service Operations, Parts & Services, Equipment Division, Product Masters, Digitalization/Technology teams, Customer Service, Sales Area, and relevant global or SEA stakeholders.
Work closely with customer representatives and site teams to understand operational challenges, identify digital improvement opportunities, and ensure solutions are practical in field environments.
Direct report to the agreed local supervisory organization and work functionally with relevant digitalization, automation, service, and product support stakeholders.
SUPERVISION / MANAGE / ACT AS A COACH
Provide subject matter guidance to technicians, service teams, and users of digital tools or connected equipment systems.
Coach technicians with lower experience in troubleshooting, system functionality, data interpretation, digital applications, and safe work practices.
Share knowledge and best practices to improve capability, adoption, and consistency across locations.
HEALTH & SAFETY

Prepare and execute all activities in line with EHS and Quality regulations, procedures, instructions, and guidelines.
Ensure digitalization and technology implementation is performed safely and does not create additional risk to people, equipment, customer operations, or the environment.
Identify and report unsafe work behaviors, hazards, near misses, incidents, or system risks immediately.
Follow required Take 5, risk assessment, permit-to-work, isolation, and customer site procedures.
Comply with Sandvik global EHS policy, ISO 14001/45001, SMKP requirements, and applicable customer site requirements according to the role authority.
PREFERRED ENVIRONMENT & MOBILITY
Field and office environment, including Sandvik Balikpapan office, customer sites, workshops, and other operational locations as required.
Willing to travel within Indonesia and, when required, within Sandvik Sales Area or global network for project, training, support, or implementation needs.
Comfortable working in a customer-facing, field-based, and cross-functional environment.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 6 years of experience in mining, heavy equipment, automation, digitalization, technology implementation, equipment engineering, maintenance, or field service.
Proven exposure to digital tools, data analytics, equipment connectivity, automation systems, control systems, or technology implementation in an industrial or mining environment.
Strong understanding of Sandvik or similar OEM mining equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, control, automation, or telemetry-related systems.
Experience in advanced troubleshooting, commissioning, technical reporting, customer support, and cross-functional coordination.
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Mining/Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
Proficiency in relevant software, digital tools, databases, dashboards, reporting systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong analytical thinking, practical problem solving, communication, collaboration, and coaching capability.
Proficient English communication, both written and oral; CEFR B1-B2 preferred depending on business requirement.
Driver’s license and willingness to travel to customer sites are preferred.
