The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining Pratt Miller's facilities, building systems, and equipment to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient work environment. This position performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and general facility upkeep across multiple trades including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems. The Maintenance Technician works independently and collaboratively to support facility operations while responding to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS:

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Facility Maintenance and Repair

  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of building systems and facility equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs involving plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall repair, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
  • Install, maintain, and repair machinery and facility equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical drawings to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Utilize strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve facility and equipment issues.
  • Safely operate power tools and maintenance equipment while maintaining personal hand tools necessary to perform assigned work.
  • Utilize basic computer applications, including work order systems, Microsoft Office applications, email, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), such as Eptura Asset.

Facility Operations Support

  • Conduct routine facility inspections to maintain a safe, clean, and functional work environment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on shop equipment and building systems.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness throughout facility work areas.
  • Assist with facility setup and teardown activities for company meetings and employee events.
  • Support emergency maintenance repairs and respond to facility issues as required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following areas will be assigned as required.

  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with employees, vendors, and contractors.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while contributing positively within a team environment.
  • Maintain a professional, customer-focused attitude while interacting with individuals across the organization.
  • Complete assigned work accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Possess or obtain a valid Chauffeur's License.
  • Maintain flexibility to work overtime, evenings, weekends, or respond to emergency call-ins when required.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or recognized equivalent required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of facilities maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or commercial environment required.

DESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
 

  • Broad knowledge of commercial and industrial facility maintenance practices.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and building systems.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and building systems.
  • Experience operating forklifts, scissor lifts, and aerial lifts.
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Experience utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), such as Eptura Asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and equipment documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and basic computer systems.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments while maintaining attention to detail.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Moderate physical demands with regular deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Frequently stand, walk, climb ladders, kneel, crouch, bend, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights using ladders, scissor lifts, and aerial lifts.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Regular exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, machinery, and varying temperatures.
  • Required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing assigned duties.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

  • Core work schedule is based on operational requirements.
  • Overtime, evenings, weekends, and emergency call-in support may be required to maintain facility operations and respond to urgent maintenance needs.
  • Schedule flexibility is required to support business and facility demands.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work is performed throughout office, manufacturing, laboratory, and shop environments.
  • This position requires frequent movement between indoor and outdoor work areas and involves exposure to mechanical equipment, varying environmental conditions, and active production operations.
  • The Maintenance Technician works both independently and collaboratively to ensure Pratt Miller facilities remain safe, reliable, and operational while supporting employees across the organization.
