JOB SUMMARY
The BIOS Developer is responsible for supporting the development, integration, and validation of BIOS/UEFI firmware for server and platform products. This role contributes to platform bring-up, feature implementation, debug, and release readiness to ensure firmware functionality, stability, and compliance with program requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, integrate, and debug BIOS/UEFI firmware features in alignment with platform architecture and product requirements.
- Support platform bring-up, boot flow validation, subsystem enablement, and issue triage during development and validation milestones.
- Analyze firmware defects, collect logs and system data, and support root cause analysis and corrective action closure.
- Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, Thermal, BMC, Validation, and Systems teams to resolve cross-functional integration issues.
- Support BIOS validation, regression testing, and readiness for milestone releases and manufacturing builds.
- Maintain firmware documentation, release notes, issue tracking discipline, and technical communication required for project execution.
- Contribute to code quality, development process discipline, and continuous improvement of firmware methods and reuse.
- Provide clear communication of progress, risks, system issues, and open actions to project stakeholders.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in BIOS, firmware, embedded software, or low-level platform development.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of C/C++ and firmware debugging techniques.
- Familiarity with x86 system architecture, firmware boot flow, and hardware/firmware interaction is preferred.
- Experience with server, storage, or networking platforms is required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively on complex technical issues with guidance as needed.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills in a cross-functional engineering environment.
