Accountabilities
- Ensure database security through authentication controls, access management, encryption, and least-privilege implementation.
- Develop and maintain database documentation standards and operational best practices.
- Manage database replication, high-availability solutions, and infrastructure improvements.
- Maintain and enhance backup, recovery, and disaster recovery environments.
- Design, test, and support disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Install, upgrade, migrate, and maintain database environments across systems, versions, and platforms.
- Monitor database performance metrics, identify issues proactively, and implement optimization strategies.
- Perform query tuning, database resource management, and performance reporting.
- Conduct root cause analysis for database incidents and develop preventative solutions.
- Collaborate with technical teams to optimize queries, improve database efficiency, and resolve complex issues.
- Participate in on-call rotations and support critical database operations.
- Develop scripts, tools, and automation processes to streamline database maintenance activities.
- Evaluate database requests and recommend effective implementation approaches.
- Provide technical guidance, reporting, training, and mentorship to team members.
- Minimum of 10 years of current database administration experience.
- Strong experience managing Oracle Server, MongoDB, Microsoft SQL Server, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL databases.
- Experience working with large-volume databases and complex data environments.
- Strong understanding of database architecture, data models, migrations, and visualization concepts.
- Experience with UNIX, Linux, and Windows operating systems.
- Proficiency with scripting and automation using command-line, batch processes, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of database security practices, backup strategies, replication, and disaster recovery.
- Experience with database performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Azure SQL Server Administration, Azure Synapse, and Dynamics data models is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound technical decisions.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and provide high-quality technical support.
