Accountabilities:
- Lead one or more engineering teams responsible for designing, developing, and operating critical payment systems with high standards for scalability, reliability, and security.
- Define technical strategy and collaborate with senior leaders to establish architecture direction that supports long-term business goals.
- Create an environment where engineers and technical leaders can deliver high-quality work, grow their skills, and maximize their impact.
- Partner with product, design, data, finance, legal, compliance, and other cross-functional teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
- Guide engineering initiatives from concept through production, ensuring alignment between technical execution and business outcomes.
- Drive operational excellence by promoting strong engineering practices, system reliability, quality standards, and continuous improvement.
- Support technical decision-making by balancing short-term priorities with long-term platform health and sustainability.
- Empower engineers to lead initiatives beyond their individual contributions and encourage ownership across teams.
- Recruit, retain, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams while fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture.
- 9+ years of relevant software development experience in a fast-paced technology environment, with 3–5+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong experience building and operating large-scale backend systems and customer-facing technology solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver complex engineering initiatives with significant business impact.
- Strong technical judgment with experience making architectural decisions and managing engineering trade-offs.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders across multiple teams.
- Experience partnering closely with product and design teams to build intuitive, high-quality user experiences.
- Proven ability to create a culture focused on engineering excellence, reliability, and operational performance.
- Strong people leadership skills, including hiring, mentoring, retaining, and developing engineering talent.
- Commitment to building diverse, equitable, and inclusive teams.
- Experience working with payment systems, financial technology, or other highly regulated environments is a plus.
- Competitive base salary range of $212,000 to $265,000 USD.
