Accountabilities:
- Lead and develop engineering teams focused on improving Linux user and developer experiences.
- Own technical roadmaps, execution plans, and delivery outcomes while aligning engineering work with broader product strategy.
- Guide architecture decisions, software development practices, code reviews, and engineering standards.
- Build and maintain high-quality, performant software using technologies such as Rust, Go, Python, Flutter, or C/C++.
- Support engineers through coaching, mentoring, technical feedback, and career development.
- Collaborate with product teams, engineering leaders, and external stakeholders to define priorities and deliver impactful solutions.
- Drive planning, estimation, execution, and continuous improvement across engineering initiatives.
- Contribute to upstream open source projects and encourage community collaboration.
- Improve technical documentation and knowledge-sharing practices.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence, ownership, innovation, and collaboration within distributed teams.
- Proven experience leading technical teams and delivering complex software projects.
- Strong software engineering background with hands-on experience in languages such as Rust, Go, Python, Flutter, or C/C++.
- Experience managing engineers while remaining close to technical decisions and development processes.
- Demonstrated ability to drive technical initiatives from planning through delivery.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, engineering principles, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Passion for open source software and experience contributing to or working with open source communities.
- Experience with Linux systems, including desktop or server environments, distributions, package management, or system administration.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Professional written and spoken English proficiency.
- Results-oriented mindset with strong ownership and commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally for team gatherings several times per year.
- Experience with software packaging, distribution mechanisms, security engineering, or performance optimization is considered a plus.
- Academic excellence in Computer Science, STEM, or a comparable technical background is valued.
