How you’ll make an impact in this role
Manage the daily operations of the central sterile supply unit sterile processing department in support of surgical procedures.
- Develop specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
- Collect and report on data concerning instrument distribution, loss and replacement. Work collaboratively to identify and implement strategies related to product standardization, supply reduction, and cost containment.
- Manage staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management.
May perform and oversee processes such as scheduling, recruitment, payroll and student engagement. - Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, vendor relations, and quality and process compliance of all sterilization activities throughout the health system according to industry regulations.
- Monitor quality and process compliance of all sterilization activities. Manage quality assurance programs by adjusting work product goals in conjunction with regular audits trends and metrics.
- Establish and maintain sterilization, safety and security standards, policies and procedures for Sterile Processing Department to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- May travel as needed.
What minimum requirements you’ll need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- One or more of the following required:
- Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree with 2 years of experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
What additional preferences we're seeking
CRST, CIS, CER preferred
