The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.About the Role
Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Network Systems Engineer to join our COMSEC team within the Core Systems and Components group. In this role, you will play a critical part in designing, developing, and maintaining secure network and communications systems that support our mission. You will work closely with our Electrical Hardware Design and Systems teams to deliver integrated, reliable, and secure solutions.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement network and communications security (COMSEC) systems and architectures
Collaborate closely with Electrical Hardware Design and Systems Engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of network solutions
Define and manage network systems requirements, interfaces, and performance parameters
Support system-level trade studies, design reviews, and technical assessments
Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and communications issues
Ensure compliance with applicable security standards, policies, and regulations
Contribute to documentation including specifications, interface control documents, and test plans
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
8+ years of relevant experience in network systems engineering
Experience with COMSEC principles, policies, and equipment
Strong understanding of network protocols, architectures, and security frameworks
Experience implementing and managing firewall policies, VLANs, ACLs, and network segmentation strategies
Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, or similar)
Knowledge of high availability and redundancy design principles, including spanning tree, LACP/port-channel, and failover configurations
Proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications
Active Top Secret security clearance
Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or government programs
Familiarity with FIPS encryption devices and NIST policies
Experience with zero-trust network architecture and micro-segmentation strategies
Experience designing, deploying, and managing network infrastructure, including core, aggregation, and access layers
Experience with cloud networking platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid connectivity models
Familiarity with network automation and orchestration tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Python-based scripting for network configuration
Knowledge of hardware/software integration in embedded or flight systems environments
Base Pay Range for:
CO applicants is $133,500.00 - $186,898.95Other site ranges may differ

Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
