Summary (About this Position):
A Tool Engineer involves designing, developing and maintaining specialized tools for, in this case, efficient molding and stamping of components for Electrical Center manufacturing. You will have an opportunity to work closely with Product and Manufacturing Engineers and vendors to understand requirements and implement effective solutions, while focusing on improving & maintaining efficient productivity, reducing costs and ensuring product quality.
Your Role (i.e. Key Job Responsibilities):
- Tool design, development and procurement
- Analyze existing tools/processes for better efficiency, cost reduction or quality improvements through tool modifications
- Develop tool cost estimates
- Support manufacturing plants and cost reduction efforts
- Document and communicate tooling projects, information and instructions/procedures
- Ensure compliance with customer specific requirements
Your Required Background (i.e. Must Haves):
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electro-Mechanical Engineeing
- Able to speak, read & write English
- Basic knowledge of plastic mold & stamping die processes & materials
- Ability to analyze, develop and maintain accuracy of mold & die tool designs
- Proficient in NX(2312), AutoCAD
- Ability to develop cost estimates for mold and dies (new tools & engineering changes)
- For new tool builds and tool changes/improvements - Ability to quote, source, review/approve design, manage build/debug/release with supplier, release to production
- Develop tool design concepts/solutions for component driven tool changes
- Develop, design and procure End of Arm Tooling (EOAT) for manufacturing
- Ensure that tool costs are controlled and budget met
- Support and/or lead cost reduction efforts
- Provide technical & manufacturing support, including documentation
