Accountabilities:

    The Staff Software Engineer will lead the design, development, and operation of highly scalable cloud data storage systems. This role requires strong technical ownership, architectural thinking, and the ability to deliver reliable infrastructure solutions while collaborating across engineering teams.

    • Design and build distributed data systems, including APIs, schemas, persistence layers, replication strategies, and storage architectures that support large-scale workflow data.
    • Own the development and evolution of cloud storage infrastructure, including write-ahead logs, metadata stores, caching systems, and tiered storage solutions.
    • Improve reliability and performance by defining service objectives, creating testing strategies, profiling critical workloads, and leading operational improvements.
    • Drive technical decision-making through architecture proposals, design documentation, and engineering best practices.
    • Break down complex roadmap initiatives into actionable technical plans and guide implementation across engineering teams.
    • Mentor engineers, provide technical guidance, and help elevate engineering standards and practices.
    • Collaborate with teams across cloud infrastructure, server development, and developer experience to deliver complete product capabilities.
    • Build and operate services across major cloud platforms while ensuring scalability, durability, and operational excellence.
    • Contribute to open source initiatives and continuously improve developer-focused infrastructure solutions.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate is an experienced distributed systems engineer with a strong background in building scalable backend infrastructure. They should combine deep technical expertise with strong collaboration skills and the ability to lead complex engineering initiatives.

      • 5+ years of experience designing, building, and operating highly scalable distributed systems.
      • Strong computer science fundamentals, including expertise in distributed systems concepts, concurrency, multithreading, and large-scale architecture.
      • Advanced programming experience in languages such as Go, Java, or similar backend technologies.
      • Proven experience building and running production services on cloud platforms such as AWS; experience with Azure or Google Cloud is a plus.
      • Experience designing storage systems, databases, persistence layers, or large-scale data infrastructure.
      • Familiarity with technologies such as Elasticsearch, ClickHouse, or similar data platforms.
      • Ability to design reliable systems with strong operational practices, monitoring, and performance optimization.
      • Experience leading technical initiatives, writing design documents, and influencing engineering decisions.
      • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.
      • Experience contributing to open source projects or working with open source technologies is a plus.
      • Knowledge of workflow engines, transactional logs, LSM trees, columnar storage, Kubernetes controllers, or multi-region high-availability systems is highly valued.
