The Enterprise Data and AI (EDAI) organization unites data governance, strategy, engineering, and product teams with those responsible for AI engineering, generative AI enablement, and automation product and engineering. This group plays a pivotal role in leveraging data as a core driver of innovation and integrating AI capabilities to transform products, operations, and customer experiences. The EDAI organization also incorporates technology Research & Development and experimentation with emerging capabilities, along with engineering support for Amex Digital Labs. This integration ensures that research breakthroughs seamlessly translate into business impact.
The Enterprise AI Platforms Team creates the platforms, products and governance that power enterprise AI. Our team enables rapid experimentation, seamless deployment and responsible operation of AI systems at scale - delivering trusted, compliant and high-performance AI solutions that drive meaningful business outcomes, partnering with stakeholders to support use cases from inception to implementation.
The Automation and AI Products team partners closely with Technologies scrum teams to deliver the highest priority intelligent automation capabilities for the enterprise, driving an enterprise automation agenda where we build once for many. It is critical for our Product Director to be a strong collaborator, flexible with changing priorities and possess a strong background in Automation and AI capabilities, and a desire to improve the way we work at American Express. The Director, Digital Product Management will lead strategy, prioritization and execution for a portfolio of AI-powered digital products and capabilities that support enterprise automation at scale. This leader will help shape and deliver a roadmap spanning Agentic AI, Document and Data Intelligence, Process Intelligence and AI-enabled Process Automation, while ensuring solutions are reusable, governed, measurable, and aligned to enterprise priorities.
This role requires an experienced, strategic and forward-looking product leader who can connect business outcomes to platform capabilities, work seamlessly across product and technology teams and build an environment of innovation, accountability and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in AI product management, enterprise transformation and large-scale delivery in a complex, highly regulated environment.
- Lead a high-performing team of product managers responsible for the vision, roadmap and delivery of enterprise AI and automation products, including capabilities across agentic AI, document and data intelligence, process intelligence and process automation.
- Define and evolve a multi-year product strategy that aligns to enterprise priorities and supports scalable, reusable capabilities across business units and journeys.
- Lead the product strategy for agentic and modular orchestration capabilities that enable cognitive workflows to create, adapt, optimize, and accelerate automation solutions across the enterprise.
- Partner with Technology, Engineering, Architecture, Operations, Risk, Compliance and Control Management teams to deliver secure, compliant, enterprise-grade products that balance innovation with governance.
- Establish product operating rhythms, OKRs, KPIs and portfolio reporting to provide clear visibility into value delivery, adoption, delivery health, performance and risk.
- Ensure effective program oversight across the portfolio by strengthening prioritization, dependency management, resource planning, mitigation of delivery risks and communication with senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Champion “build once, reuse many” product design principles, expanding utilization through marketplaces, modular products, inner-sourcing approaches and reusable AI components.
- Drive colleague-centric and responsible AI design, including colleague-in-the-loop controls where required, human oversight, model governance, lifecycle management and transparent performance monitoring.
- Partner with journey owners and business teams to identify high-value use cases, define measurable business outcomes and prioritize investments that improve process efficiency, experience, and control effectiveness.
- Advance Process Intelligence capabilities to improve process visibility, uncover risks and inefficiencies, identify automation opportunities and enable embedded remediation and control execution.
- Build strong enterprise adoption by increasing Automation and AI IQ through enablement, product launches, communications, communities of practice and stakeholder engagement.
- Keeping up with the latest industry research around automation and AI, and related technologies to ensure we are appropriately leveraging new techniques and capabilities.
- Coach and develop product talent, creating a culture of innovation, disciplined execution, data-driven decision-making and strong cross-functional collaboration.
- Significant experience in a product management leadership role delivering digital products and platforms within a large, complex enterprise.
- Demonstrated experience defining strategy and leading execution for AI, automation or platform products that serve multiple business teams at enterprise scale.
- Strong understanding of modern AI and automation capabilities, including GenAI, LLMs, multimodal models, agentic AI, workflow orchestration, machine learning, language translation, document intelligence and process intelligence.
- Experience translating business needs into product strategies, roadmaps and measurable outcomes, with a strong bias toward reuse, standardization and enterprise adoption.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Design, Operations, Risk and Compliance to deliver secure, scalable and resilient solutions.
- Strong technical acumen and architectural fluency, with the ability to understand system dependencies, integration patterns, non-functional requirements, and lifecycle implications for enterprise products.
- Experience establishing KPIs, OKRs, product health metrics and executive reporting to measure customer value, operational efficiency, quality and control outcomes.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for senior leaders and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong people leadership skills with experience building high-performing teams, coaching talent, and leading through ambiguity and change.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus on strategic outcomes and delivery excellence.
- Familiarity with governance approaches for responsible AI, human-in-the-loop design, model risk management and regulated enterprise delivery.
- Experience enabling enterprise adoption through product marketing, training, communities of practice and self-service or marketplace-based consumption models.
- Knowledge of financial services, operations, underwriting, AML/KYC or other regulated business processes where AI and automation can unlock meaningful impact.
