Data Engineer
We have an opportunity for a Data Engineer to join our SaaS Ecosystem Engineering – Data Engineering team in Bangalore, reporting to the Manager, Engineering. In this pivotal role, you will help build and scale our cloud-native data lake and analytics platform that powers threat intelligence, product analytics, and AI-driven experiences across Infoblox. Collaborating closely with data scientists, threat analysts, product managers, and software engineers, you will design and operate high-performance data pipelines and storage solutions using technologies such as ClickHouse, OpenSearch, and Spark, while leveraging modern AI-assisted engineering tools to increase productivity and quality.
Be a Contributor — What You’ll Do
- Curate large-scale data from a multitude of sources into high-quality datasets for data scientists, threat analysts, and developers across the company
- Design, test, and implement scalable storage and warehousing solutions for diverse consumers, especially data warehouses like ClickHouse and OpenSearch
- Design and implement mechanisms to monitor data sources over time using summarization, observability, and statistical methods
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure APIs that enable high-throughput data integration and retrieval for internal and external applications
- Build, optimize, and operate batch and streaming data pipelines using Spark, Kafka, and Pub/Sub to support analytics and product workloads
- Leverage computer science algorithms and probabilistic data structures to distill large data into insight-rich representations that enable analytics and AI use cases
- Convert prototypes into production data engineering solutions through disciplined software engineering, Spark optimizations, and modern CI/CD pipelines
- Support data scientists and Product teams in building, debugging, and deploying Spark applications that best leverage the Data Lake
- Build and maintain tools for automation, deployment, monitoring, data validation, and operations of pipelines and storage systems
- Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) to accelerate coding, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting with sound engineering judgment
Be Prepared — What You Bring
- 4+ years of experience in software development or data engineering, with programming language Golang
- Expertise in data engineering – MapReduce, Spark Streaming, Kafka, Pub-Sub, and in-memory databases
- Experience with search/analytics technologies such as OpenSearch or ElasticSearch
- Experience with data lake and warehousing technologies such as ClickHouse
- Good exposure to application performance tuning, memory management, and scalability
- Ability to design highly scalable distributed systems using different open-source technologies
- Exposure to AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) and the ability to leverage them to improve developer productivity, code quality, and engineering efficiency
- Experience in microservices development and container-based software using Docker/Kubernetes is a plus; experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure is a plus
- Experience building high-performance algorithms
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering is required; Master’s degree preferred
Be Successful — Your Path
First 90 Days: Immerse in our culture, connect with mentors (Blox Buddies), and map the systems and meet with key stakeholders that rely on your work. Discuss and create short/long term goals
Six Months:
- Complete onboarding by demonstrating knowledge of the Data Lake and associated technologies and CI/CD processes by deploying ETL pipelines for curation and warehousing to production
- Complete rotations on support/duty and gain experience with the different systems, tools, and processes in the Data Lake by resolving reported issues
- Contribute to the team’s velocity by participating in Scrum and driving stories to completion
One Year:
- Be an expert on the Data Lake target state architecture and drive engineering design and grooming sessions for new feature development
- Apply coding best practices and provide in-depth reviews on the team’s pull requests
- Be a thought leader in one or more domains of the Data Lake, driving development and mentoring teammates in this domain
