This position is for Beckman Coulter team located at Danaher India Development Center (IDC), Bangalore. IDC is a research and development center with the vision of accelerating product roadmaps across various Danaher business segments. Started in 2014, the center now Hosts 650+ associates, for multiple Danaher operating companies focusing on Diagnostics and Life Science segments.
The IDC work force comprises various product engineering teams, working on Development of software and hardware components of cutting-edge products for, Immunoassay, Chemistry, Hematology, Molecular diagnostics, Oncology, Neurosurgery etc. IDC has evolved as center of excellence for Cloud and data analytics, With significant contributions to the key informatics solutions. The teams consist of Highly hardworking software & hardware engineers and development managers. The Teams are supported by local Product managers, Quality & Regulatory and Intellectual Property specialists.
The in-house teams work in close coordination with other global R&D centers in the US, France, Germany, Japan, Australia, Denmark and Sweden. Located at the center of Bangalore IT HUB, IDC is housed at state of art facility.
The Human Factors Engineering Intern will play a vital role in elevating the user experience and ensuring patient safety for our cutting-edge diagnostic products. By actively planning and conducting human factors research – from critical usability studies to thorough user risk analyses – you'll uncover key insights. Your user-centric design recommendations will directly inform product enhancements, making our solutions more intuitive, safer, and ultimately, more effective for healthcare professionals and the patients they serve.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Assist in planning and conducting human factors research, including usability studies, ethnographic observations, and heuristic evaluations.
- Contribute to the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data to identify user needs, pain points, and opportunities for design improvement.
- Support the development of user profiles, task analyses, use-error analyses, and usability requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D engineers, designers, product managers, and quality assurance, to integrate human factors into the product development lifecycle.
- Help create prototypes and mock-ups for user testing and gather feedback.
- Document human factors activities and findings in technical reports and presentations.
- Participate in design reviews and provide human factors input.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in human Factors Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Ergonomics, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Product Design, Computer Science or a related field.
- Preference will be given to those that have completed at least 3 years of their study.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SPSS) or qualitative analysis tools.
- Familiarity with medical device regulations (e.g., FDA Human Factors Guidance, IEC 62366).
- Experience with prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
