SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this role is $73,077 to $85,280 annually. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment. 

 

SUMMARY

The Electrical Engineering Specialist III is an experienced technical contributor who supports engineering activities through hands-on execution, heavy soldering and rework, advanced troubleshooting, test support and high-quality documentation. They work with moderate independence to support subsystem-level integration, contribute to engineering reviews, and execute prototype builds, diagnostics and bench validation using standard lab equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.

  • Perform hands-on build, assembly, troubleshooting, and validation tasks in support of engineering development and production.
  • Create, update, and maintain technical documentation, including test procedures, work instructions, layout drawings, and equipment configurations.
  • Provide subsystem-level integration support, ensuring compatibility across electrical, mechanical, and software interfaces.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics, data collection, and failure analysis, independently resolving moderately complex issues.
  • Assist engineers during design reviews and prototype iterations by providing practical manufacturability and testability insights.
  • Support configuration management through accurate documentation of part versions, changes, and revision history.
  • Train or mentor junior specialists in tool usage, safe practices, assembly methods, or troubleshooting techniques.
  • Collaborate across teams (engineering, test, production, NCC) to ensure seamless execution of builds and testing.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

The following are a non-exhaustive list of qualifications for the position:

  • Technical certificate, trade school completion or associate degree in a relevant field (equivalent hands-on experience considered in lieu)
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience
  • Prior experience supporting prototype builds, subsystem testing, or technical troubleshooting.
  • PCB rework, soldering, harness assembly, bench testing of avionics / electronics, oscilloscopes and multimeters.
  • Basic FPGA, microcontroller or embedded hardware familiarity.
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts and ability to work through complex hands-on tasks.
  • High attention to detail, documentation accuracy and version control discipline.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across diverse technical teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates initiative, ownership and growing technical judgment.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree or advanced technical certification in electrical technology, mechanical technology, cybersecurity or related field.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, robotics or other complex hardware environments.
  • Prior involvement in system-level testing or field support.
  • Familiarity with avionics systems, power distribution, EMI / EMC considerations
  • Ability to guide junior specialists and support process improvements.
  • Comfortable providing feedback to engineers regarding manufacturability or system robustness.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

The work environment may involve a standard office setting while also incorporating elements of a production area. Employees will use standard office equipment, including computers, and must demonstrate stamina to sit or stand while maintaining attention to detail despite potential interruptions. The role may require occasional activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending. Vision is necessary for reading printed materials and a computer screen, while hearing and speech are essential for effective communication both in person and over the telephone. Additionally, the position may necessitate travel by air or automobile. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats, to ensure safety in the production environment. Employees may be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
