Department Overview :
Segment Technology Finance is accountable for monthly management and performance reporting, financial analysis and assisting with forecasting and planning initiatives. The team’s mandate also includes providing value added reporting on project development workplan impacting all Canadian Banking businesses supported by our Technology partners. We also assist our business partners with special projects including business case analysis and development of reporting metrics to monitor benefit/value realization.
Overview Description:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst position within the Global Technology & Solutions Finance group requires an action-oriented individual with strong technical skills, good business acumen and demonstrated problem solving capabilities. The focus of this individual will be to develop a strong relationship with the technology portfolios supported to deliver monthly/quarterly reporting and analysis of internally developed software capitalization/amortization. The Senior Financial Analyst must have strong communication and be able to deliver value added business analysis and be highly organized with emphasis on automation.
Accountabilities:
Serve as a Finance subject matter expert on Internally Developed Software Capitalization and amortization. This will include extensive interactions with the multiple business/corporate segment leaders and partners across the bank.
Support month end process for capitalization, amortization and chargeout journal entries, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts to ensure totals are per expectations along with quarterly impairment attestations process.
Lead the monthly reconciliation process to leverage data from Clarity time reporting system and GL including all necessary adjustments to ensure data completeness and accuracy.
Partner with Fixed Assets and other TS groups to ensure software assets are properly interpreted per the Bank's accounting policy and recorded in the balance sheet and P&L.
Identify opportunities to streamline and optimize the allocation model.
Proactively identify issues and recommend actions to senior management.
Identify and provide impact analysis of financial/accounting, policy and process changes including documentation, follow up, escalation and resolution.
Develop and enhance internal relationships across multiple business units, coordinate with multiple segment partners to follow-up and close issue in a timely manner.
Support the Management Team in responding to and following up on issues, queries and exceptions.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
The successful candidate in this role will have demonstrated strong commitment, initiative and drive to continuously exceed expectations, strong analytic skills with solid understanding of data and system, strong communication skills to coordinate with multiple partners, effective at problem solving with minimal support and strong organization skills.
Education/Accreditations:
University/College education with a focus on Finance, Accounting, Commerce or Business.
Business and/or accounting designation strongly preferred or working towards designation
(CPA/CFA/CMA/CGA/CA/MBA).
Minimum 5 years or more of experience in finance, accounting, analytics
MUST HAVE
Detailed knowledge of financial accounting processes and internal control structures.
Strong attention to detail with an ability to effectively synthesize issues
Advanced analytical skills and strong ability to inter-relate issues.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work and thrive in a changing and fast paced work environment.
Ability to multi-task and work under tight timelines to meet all deliverables.
Ability to proactively follow up on identified issues and work toward resolution.
Strong communication (written and verbal) skills are essential to deal with all levels of management and external contacts.
Strong inter-personal skills including consistent team player and strong relationship-building skills.
Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and in a team environment as required.
Proven track record of value-added customer service through initiative and creativity.
Strong working knowledge of MS Excel (Power Pivot), MS Word, MS Power Point and Outlook.
Financial experience is a must
Must be willing to be in the office at least four days a week and be comfortable with changes to Hybrid work model.
NICE TO HAVE
Strong knowledge of Hyperion, Essbase and Oracle would be an asset.
Certification (MBA/CFA/CMA/CGA/CA)
Work activities include a blend of highly collaborative activities and individual deliverables. Individuals are expected to be onsite 4 days a week. Colleagues may spend more or less days in office as required by the business line.
