SUPERVISORY BORDER PATROL AGENT (SOD BORSTAR COMMANDER)

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, Del Rio Sector, Special Operations Detachment, located in Del Rio, TX. This position will allow you to use your expertise to prevent illegal entry of aliens into the United States by land, water, or air; enforce criminal provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Laws; and seek out and apprehend smugglers or aliens who are in the United States illegally. As a second-line Supervisory Border Patrol Agent (SOD BORSTAR COMMANDER), you will serve as a secondary law enforcement officer (under 5 U.S.C. 8331 (6C) and 8412) and be responsible for: Performing law enforcement duties and responsibilities and overseeing SOD BORSTAR Unit operations, managing, directing, and coordinating assignments consistent with sector and USBP mission and objectives including detecting and preventing the smuggling of, or illegal entry of, aliens into the United States; detecting and apprehending those aliens in violation of the conditions under which they were admitted; and detecting and apprehending those falsely claiming United States citizenship or legal status. Directing SOD BORSTAR work that includes enforcement operations, intelligence collection and reporting, administrative and logistical support, technological requirements, personnel, labor and employee relations issues, internal and external communications, and other program areas as required. Providing technical and administrative supervision to subordinates who engage in law enforcement, intelligence, technical projects, support, and administrative work. Overseeing and directing the assignment of agents to employ remote monitored sensor systems, surveillance systems, and other highly technical electronic equipment.
