Assist in the day-to-day supervision to achieve customer satisfaction and quality service while assuring compliance with policies and Standard Operating Procedures. Conducts inspections for cleanliness and uphold standards of daily staff of 16-20 employees effectively.
- Listen and respond to guest inquiries in a professional manner; answer questions and offer assistance by providing accurate information on hotel, casino, and city services.
- Supervise cross-property housekeeping hourly staff, assist with interviews, and conduct evaluations and progressive discipline when required.
- Implement and monitor departmental and hotel policies and procedures to ensure quality service and enforce all OSHA and safety standards.
- Initiate positive or corrective action when standards are consistently met or not met.
- Supervise and monitor daily work performance of housekeeping staff, ensuring completion of duties and proper handling and security of all keys.
- Work closely with Status Board Operators communicating accurate room status information to the front office staff.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear direction to staff.
- Resolve guest concerns efficiently and courteously.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and ensure all public areas meet hotel cleanliness and maintenance standards.
- Monitor supply and amenity levels in assigned areas.
- Report operational issues, maintenance discrepancies, unsafe equipment, and unusual situations in a timely manner and follow through to resolution.
- Exercise sound judgment regarding employee and guest safety, demonstrating strong customer service skills.
- Maintain knowledge of guestroom cleaning techniques, including industrial carpet and floor care, as well as standard cleaning practices.
- Comprehensive computer knowledge, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Groupwise; AS400: LMS
- Attend all required training sessions and actively participate in pre-shift departmental meetings.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English, with excellent customer service skills.
- Must maintain a neat and professional appearance.
- Must be flexible to work various shifts and at multiple properties; bilingual abilities preferred.
- Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements preferred.
- Previous housekeeping supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and make progress under time constraints.
- Ability to access, input, and analyze information using moderately complex computer systems and written materials, and to act independently when drawing conclusions.
- Ability to perceive quality of work, review documents, follow instructions, and respond to guest, client, or staff inquiries.
- Ability to remain alert throughout the shift and calm during emergency situations while exercising sound judgment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing and walking for the duration of the shift, as well as bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and ascending/descending stairs.
- Work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks under time constraints.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and handle sensitive staff and guest situations in a timely manner.
- May use a step stool to reach high areas; must climb stairs and continuously balance, bend, stoop, and kneel.
- Must frequently crouch, squat, push/pull, work overhead with both arms, and use hands for continuous grasping.
- Must be able to push, pull, and lift furniture (e.g., mattresses, tables, chairs, lamps).
- Must tolerate required PPE (gloves, safety glasses/goggles, etc.) and safely operate motorized equipment.
