In Germany we have Spacecraft Controller teams in two sites, working on different missions. One is in Darmstadt working on ESA Interplanetary Missions at ESOC. The other is in Gilching/Oberpfaffenhofen working with the Galileo Mission in the Galileo Control Center or Multiple Missions at GSOC
Security:
In line with security requirements for the concerned missions of this position, the candidate has to hold a European citizenship. Evidence of eligibility will be required from candidates as part of the recruitment process. Furthermore, in view of the nature of the work the company is in, all potential employees will undergo stringent reference and identity checks.
Requirements
- Completed Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent degree
- Commitment and willingness to work in a 24/7 shift system
- Experience in monitoring process workflows
- Experience in telecommunications or space industry is desirable
- Experience with Linux is desirable
- Fluent in English, Proficient in German
- Due to the specific requirements of the missions, proof of European citizenship is required for this position. Additionally, a security clearance will be conducted at the time of hiring.
Responsibilities
- Completion of a 3–4-month training program with final certification
- Monitoring of satellites and telemetry
- Monitor and control the operations progress for multiple satellite missions, in accordance with the scheduled operations timeline
- Execute some specific operations, as defined in the operations timeline and in accordance with the established procedures
- Upon detection of an anomaly, take the corrective action as necessary, according to the approved contingency procedures, and support the responsible expert for further investigation
- Logging and reporting of routine and emergency operations
- Preparation and updating of procedures
- Contribute to the maintenance of training material and train new spacecraft controllers
- Maintenance of software
