Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Principal Maintenance Technician. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. Overview:A Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance and repair tasks on facility equipment and systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical components. They ensure optimal functionality and safety by conducting inspections, troubleshooting issues, and implementing preventive maintenance measures. Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
- Tests, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs machines and equipment.
- Maintains and repairs the facility’s infrastructure, equipment, and grounds by performing skilled trades work in areas such as plumbing, electrical, welding, fabrication, HVAC, carpentry, and painting, including the construction, repair, or alteration of structures such as walls, roofs, or office fixtures.
- Operates site equipment as needed, using hand and power tools as necessary.
- Resolves and responds to office and facility-related issues and emergencies.
- Supports maintenance mechanics and facilities staff by performing a wide variety of maintenance duties such as furniture moves, simple electrical projects, spot painting and/or cleaning, light construction and/or exterior cleanup.
- Troubleshoots equipment to determine proper methods and materials necessary for maintenance, repair and construction jobs.
- Uses blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
- Utilizes computer-based facilities system to track, schedule and maintain facilities work orders and information.
- Works with manufacturing or process engineering in the installation or repair of building plumbing and wiring required in the production process.
- Assists in coordinating and scheduling vendor support services.
- Assists with maintaining daily operations of the physical facility.
