POSITION PURPOSE:
Mid-level electrical engineer responsible for leading small to medium-sized projects or assisting with tasks on larger projects. Works with minimal oversight to support civil design development, documentation, and coordination. Focuses on quality of work performed and supports project scope and technical execution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate with team members to execute project scope, schedules, and budgets in conformance with the project and customer requirements.
- Research codes, guidance, policies, procedures, processes, criteria, and applicable laws and regulations to support technical recommendations.
- Perform field investigations and document findings with written summaries and photographs.
- Coordinate with client, team members, leadership, project stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
- Coordinate with clients, team members, leadership, project stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
- Review technical reports, RFIs, designs, design changes for different project types and submittals for compliance.
- Provide technical support for design and construction submittals and field observations.
- Provide technical support for construction field activities.
- Provide technical support for field investigations, witness testing, and commissioning efforts.
- Assist with permit applications, design calculations, and report writing.
- Document project communications and participate in client/user interviews.
- Participate in coordination meetings, site field investigations and client / user interviews to identify project needs, constraints and opportunities.
- Support design development and production of construction documents.
- Use computer programs and spread sheets for engineering analysis and presentations.
- Assist in Electrical engineering evaluations, reports, analyses, and designs for facilities.
- Contribute to safety reviews, risk mitigation/planning, and QA/QC documentation for critical electrical systems.
- Prepare electrical power system design including single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and layout.
- Prepare electrical specifications and supporting documents including wire lists and BOMs.
- Prepare arc flash hazard studies, building code analysis, and lighting/photometric studies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Engineering college curriculum in Electrical engineering.
- 3–5 years design experience.
- PE - US Professional Engineering Registration or on track to registration.
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical engineering principles.
- Understanding of technical concepts, principles, and practices applicable to multi-discipline engineering project design and construction.
- Knowledge of construction practices and methods, and construction management.
- Detail-oriented with ability to meet deadlines and follow schedules.
- Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret contract documents.
- Experience in preparing correspondence and written reports.
- Ability to read and interpret contract documents and technical drawings.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Familiarity with and ability to learn with increasing proficiency: AutoCAD , Revit and Electrical Design software. (e.g. SKM, EZPower COMCheck, Visual Lighting etc.)
- Knowledge of electrical, lighting, energy, lightning, safety, communications, and building codes.
- Understand electrical theories and concepts and Arc Flash Hazard Requirements
- US citizen, be able to travel, obtain a passport and/or security clearance, if required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Engineering
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods. Must be able to use a computer for extended periods.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work generally conducted indoors in an office setting with occasional travel to project sites but may serve as a Field Engineer during construction.
