Role Summary

We are looking for a Software Test Engineer to qualify new products, software enhancements, defect fixes, and customer release updates. The role requires strong ownership of test planning, execution, defect validation, automation, regression coverage, and customer-impact-based release readiness.

The engineer will work closely with development teams, baseline managers, product teams, and support teams to ensure software changes are well validated against requirements, customer workflows, and release quality expectations.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Understand product requirements, software changes, customer use cases, and release scope to define effective test coverage.
  • Prepare and execute test plans, test cases, regression suites, and release validation activities.
  • Validate new features, software enhancements, defect fixes, patches, and customer-specific release changes.
  • Design and execute functional, integration, system, regression, negative, backward compatibility, and customer workflow-based test scenarios.
  • Own end-to-end defect lifecycle activities including issue reproduction, evidence collection, Jira/SR updates, retesting, closure validation, and risk communication.
  • Perform impact-based regression planning by analyzing changed areas, customer use cases, historical defects, release risk, and automation coverage.
  • Maintain requirement / SR to test case traceability, including executed test cases, results, defects, and release evidence.
  • Analyze test failures using logs, automation results, simulator behavior, system configuration, and software change history.
  • Work closely with development, baseline managers, product teams, and support engineers to isolate failures and drive release readiness.
  • Automate repeatable manual test scenarios and contribute to improving automation coverage.
  • Maintain and improve automation scripts / runplans by analyzing failed runs, reducing false failures, and improving pass rate.
  • Clearly communicate test status, open risks, automation coverage, and customer-impact areas during release discussions.

Required Skills

  • 4–6 years of hands-on experience in software testing / product validation.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, QA lifecycle, defect lifecycle, release validation, and regression testing.
  • Experience in complex product domains such as semiconductor equipment, industrial automation, embedded systems, real-time systems, server/platform software, automotive, medical equipment, or similar areas.
  • Good hands-on experience in manual testing and test case design.
  • Experience with test automation using “either” of Python / Java / C++ scripting or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of Jira or similar defect / test management tools.
  • Ability to analyze failures independently and provide clear technical findings.
  • Programming/debugging knowledge in C++ and scripting knowledge in Python or equivalent language.
  • Good analytical thinking, logical reasoning, problem-solving ability, and ownership mindset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with global development, testing, support, and customer-facing teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to AI-assisted testing, test case generation, log analysis, intelligent regression selection, or coding assistants / MCP-based engineering workflows.
  • Experience with simulator-based validation, automation frameworks, API testing, or system-level testing.
  • Exposure to customer issue handling, release support, or high-value problem / HVP identification.
  • Experience in improving automation stability, runplan quality, regression efficiency, and test productivity.
