Public Sector Project Manager [AdvisoryX]
Job Description:
DXC Technology Italy is looking for a Senior Public Sector Project Manager to join the DXC AdvisoryX Offering.
Responsibilities
- Own the creation of roadmaps for the development and evolution of Public Sector IT landscapes, describing as-is and to-be customer environments.
- Plan and manage the operational execution of the project, defining timelines, milestones and resource allocation.
- Monitor project progress against plan (actual vs planned effort, milestones, contractual deadlines), promptly escalating deviations to management/PMO.
- Align client strategy, organization, operations and processes to support their growth ambitions and organizational objectives.
- Own Public Sector domain solutions, explaining how and where technology can address key business processes in the domain.
- Lead and facilitate workshops on Public Sector matters with clients and third parties.
- Analyze and validate technical and functional documents.
- Drive client innovation, formulating "technology-enabled" business solutions and new ways of doing business to create breakthrough positions in the Public Sector marketplace.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the client on progress status, critical issues and change requests, including periodic reporting to internal management.
- Manage engagement teams on both client and back-office sides, functionally coordinating resources to ensure deliverables are met.
- Lead SAL (project status) meetings with the client, owning progress reporting and validating contractual deliverables and milestones.
- Identify and manage project risks and assumptions, shaping programme governance.
- Drive pre-sales opportunities, building business cases including ROI, and develop proposed solutions addressing client business issues using standardized and customized company services.
- Coach and support individual clients.
- Contribute to the hiring process through interviews for resources joining the project team.
We Require
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Engineering, Statistics or Mathematics.
- 5+ years of experience in Management Consulting, within the Public Sector domain.
- Strong project/programme management methodology skills (Agile, Waterfall or Hybrid), with hands-on experience using leading PM tools such as Jira/Confluence for Agile delivery and Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 for Waterfall planning and control.
- Relevant Project Management and Agile certifications are considered a plus, such as PMP®/PMI, PRINCE2 Practitioner, UNI 11648 Project Manager and Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master™ (PSM I), commonly valued in Italian Public Sector programmes and tender contexts.
- Basic experience using AI-enabled tools to support and strengthen Project Management activities, including meeting summarization, action-item tracking, project reporting, risk analysis, stakeholder communication, backlog/user story refinement and data-driven decision support, while ensuring human oversight, confidentiality and compliance with client policies.
- Proven ability to manage budget, timelines and project risk.
- Cross-functional coordination skills, able to lead engagement teams without formal hierarchical authority.
- Excellent relational and negotiation skills with clients on operational matters.
- Strong analytical skills and effective problem-solving ability.
- Proactivity, results orientation and attention to detail and quality.
- Italian mother tongue and fluent English, both oral and written.

Offer Package
The position offers a gross annual base salary starting from €40,000.
Compensation is determined in line with the applicable collective labor agreement (CBA: Contratto Collettivo Nazionale di Lavoro per l’industria Metalmeccanica e della installazione di impianti) and based on objective and gender-neutral criteria, including responsability, experience and skills.
