Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Ultrasound Technologist (Sonographer), you will utilize advanced sonographic equipment to record detailed images of blood, organs, tissues, and bodily masses, including unborn fetuses, providing critical visual data for diagnosis and prenatal care.Every day you will directly interact with patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and preparing them for scans. You will meticulously operate sonographic equipment, adjusting settings and patient positions to ensure clear, diagnostic images. You will monitor and care for patients to ensure their safety and comfort, select and examine images for pathologies, and present preliminary findings to Physicians.To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent patient service and communication skills, sharp eyesight, and meticulous attention to detail. You will demonstrate strong technical proficiency, sound judgment, and advanced decision-making skills to effectively capture and interpret sonographic data, ensuring optimal diagnostic support.
- Demonstrates competency in patient care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
- Scores at least two (2) on Adult Cardiography Clinical Competency score sheet.
- Explains procedure, how test is to be performed, and prepares patient for testing with less than 3 exceptions or patient complaints per year.
- Interprets electrocardiograms, recognizing significant electrocardiographic changes with less than 3 exceptions per year.
- Able to recognize normal and abnormal structures of the heart and great vessels including but not limited to the Cardiac chambers and related septa (right atrium, left atrium, right ventricle, left ventricle), Cardiac valves and related apparatus (tricuspid valve, pulmonic valve, mitral valve and annulus, aortic valve and annulus).
- Able to identify normal pressure of cardiac chambers and principles of flow. Demonstrates ability in assessing left ventricular regional wall motion abnormalities. Able to recognize right heart abnormalities and dysfunction. Can identify pericardium, pericardial space and can differentiate degrees of pericardial effusion vs. cardiac tamponade.
Job Requirements
Required
- Two (2) year College Education from an accredited Echocardiographic and Doppler Technology Program and one (1) year experience in performance of 2D color flow Doppler Echocardiographic Studies.
- One (1) year experience in Adult TEE, Bubble and Pediatric Studies.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer RDMS or,
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Abdomen (RDMSAB) or
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer CCI (RCS) or
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or
- Registered Cardiac Elect (RCES) or
- Registered Technologist Computed Tomography (RTCT) or
- Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT ) RTR) or
- Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) or
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
