We are seeking an outstanding Director, People Business Partner to support eBay’s Finance and Legal organizations! This is a highly strategic role for an expert People leader who thrives at the intersection of business strategy, organizational efficiency, leadership, talent, and culture.

You will partner closely with Finance and Legal executive leadership teams to translate business priorities into people strategies that enable performance, agility, and long-term organizational health. The ideal candidate is a strong executive advisor, systems thinker, and hands-on operator who can move seamlessly from strategic counsel to practical execution.

You will support a leadership team primarily based in San Jose, California, with teams operating globally!

What You Will Accomplish

  • Partner with Finance and Legal executives to understand business priorities and translate them into clear, actionable people strategies.

  • Provide trusted counsel on organizational build, workforce planning, leadership efficiency, talent development approach, and succession preparation, organizational dynamics, and transformation oversight.

  • Lead organization effectiveness efforts that improve decision-making, accountability, operating rhythm, scalability, and team performance.

  • Use data, insights, and business context to identify organizational opportunities, anticipate talent needs, and build practical solutions.

  • Coach and advise leaders through complex organizational and people matters with good judgment and integrity.

  • Partner with our global Centers of Excellence (COEs) and People Business Partners to deliver integrated solutions for the business.

  • Help build strong leadership pipelines through talent reviews, succession planning, development strategies, and capability-building initiatives.

  • Champion eBay’s culture and values by helping leaders create inclusive, high-performing teams where people can do their best work.

  • Contribute to broader People Business Partner priorities, bringing strategic perspective, enterprise thinking, and strong partnership to the team.

What You Will Bring

  • 12+ years of progressive HR experience, including senior People Business Partner or HR leadership roles in complex, global high-growth environments.

  • Proven track record of advising and influencing senior leaders on business-critical people and organizational matters.

  • Strong business insight and the ability to connect people strategy to operating priorities, organizational goals, and business outcomes.

  • Deep experience in organization design, workforce planning, talent strategy, succession planning, leadership development, performance management, culture, and change management.

  • Outstanding judgment, communication skills, emotional intelligence, and relationship-building ability.

  • Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills, capable of using data and insight to diagnose issues and drive action.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed, fast paced environment while balancing strategic thinking with execution.

  • A genuine passion for building inclusive, high-performing organizations and developing leaders who bring out the best in their teams.

Additional Details

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$195,200 - $260,600

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
