Primary School English Teacher
We are looking for a Primary School English Teacher for an International School based in Tongxiang, Zhejiang province. This position is available from the upcoming 2026/27 academic year in August 2026.

This is a modern, bilingual international school in Tongxiang, Zhejiang, serving local and expatriate students from early years through upper secondary within a safe, well-resourced campus environment. Located approximately 1.5 hours’ drive (about 120 km) from central Shanghai. As part of a wider international education network, it blends Eastern and Western educational philosophies, offering small class sizes, a strong focus on whole-child development and character, and a curriculum that prepares students for further study in leading universities worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging English language lessons that support Primary students’ literacy development across reading, writing, speaking and listening.
- Differentiate instruction and materials to meet the needs of EAL learners at different proficiency levels within the same class.
- Work closely with homeroom and subject teachers to integrate language objectives into content lessons and support access to the wider curriculum.
- Use a variety of strategies (e.g. guided reading, phonics, vocabulary building, sentence frames) to build students’ academic and social English.
- Assess students’ English proficiency regularly, track progress, and adjust teaching plans based on assessment data.
- Provide targeted small-group or one-to-one support for students who need additional language intervention.
- Create a positive, language-rich classroom environment that encourages risk-taking, confidence, and active use of English.
- Communicate clearly with parents about students’ language progress and provide suggestions for supporting English at home.
- Participate in grade-level and EAL team meetings, sharing strategies and resources to support EAL provision across the school.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in EAL and Primary language teaching.
Requirements
- Holder of Bachelor Degree and teaching certificate or license, with recognized qualification
- Minimum 2 years of full-time teaching experience
- Previous experience of working with a primary school student and/or implementation of inquiry-based learning approach is a plus
