Job Summary

Ohmstede Ltd. is looking for a Bundle Shop Mechanic / Welder to perform the necessary tasks required to assist in the repair, retube, rebuild and fabrication shell & tube heat exchangers of various types and other process equipment associated with the Refining, Petrochemical and Chemical Processing Industry.  T

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Structural welding of bundle assemblies
  • Welding processes performed: GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, FCAW
  • Assemble tie rods and spacers on the bundle skeleton
  • Hang the stationary tube sheets, poke tubes into baffle assembly
  • Roll tubes placed into tube sheets and baffles
  • Install bundle into shell if required.
  • Perform hydrostatic testing of assembled units
  • Load completed units onto flatbed trucks
  • Make tube hole ID records, hydrotest results and dimensional records of exchangers
  • Perform assigned tasks in a safe manner, avoiding all unsafe practices
  • Perform internal quality control by applying acceptable boilermaker standards
  • Set up and perform jobs based on shop practices and procedures

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent• Working knowledge of fabrication shop practice• Must be able to read and write English• Must be able to read and interpret drawings• Accurately read and interpret measuring devices

Physical Demands

• Must be able to stand for long periods of time• Must be able to bend, push, pull, twist, squat, crawl, lift and reach overhead• Requires the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds

Work Environment

• Will work in heat, noisy, dusty, dirty, cold environment• May be exposed to chemicals and pinching hazards
