Job overview and responsibilities
The Enterprise PMO serves United Airlines in providing trained and qualified professionals who flexibly use United's Envision Design Build Activate (EDBA) framework in partnership with business and enabling teams to deliver assigned portfolios, programs, and projects with high quality, in a timely manner, and with as-scoped benefits for our customers, frontline employees, and supporting groups. Effective execution in this role is critical to achieving United's goal of leveraging Portfolio Management & Project Delivery Capability.
Provides matrixed direction and leadership to all project and or portfolio team participants while leading and managing project execution and/or other PMs in a portfolio situation, as assigned
- Directly or indirectly deliver high-quality artifacts and outcome through all phases of United's project management lifecycle as needed to realize measurable business results
- Provide oversight, coaching, and development for team members, engaging on their programs and projects as needed and ensuring the quality of their work while helping them develop new skills
- Use project management controls for spanning multi-departmental boundaries. Monitors programs financial performance, quality of services, deliverables, and content within proposed timelines
- Evaluate and report progress to relevant partners and committees; prepare for executive steering committee meetings with communications and content prepared for senior leadership
- Organizational implementation: Assess the impact of the scope and organizational change of the combined projects throughout the timeline of the program, including implementation of outcomes, training, and communications
Retools and continually upgrades personal project management skills and knowledge of both United's business and information technology solutions
NOTE: This position is located at the CSC-Willis Tower in Chicago, IL and considered as a hybrid work schedule 2-3 days in office, however that may evolve with the needs of the company.
Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor's degree
- 7+ years work experience, or demonstrated relevant experience
- 5+ years managing projects, or demonstrated relevant experience
- Demonstrated successful project delivery using fundamentals of PMBOK practices/methodologies
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in:
Leading multiple complex, cross-functional projects and larger initiatives with significant dependencies through execution
Managing, coaching, and mentoring project management professionals with varying levels of experience and tenure
- Presenting recommendations, escalating risks and issues, and providing actional solutions to senior leadership
- Establishing governance and clear roles and responsibilities to support efficient implementation of complex projects and initiatives
- Leading strategic planning and execution for major, divers, and highly complex programs that impact business outcomes
- Applying specialized technical aviation knowledge, program management expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills to identify and manage interdependencies and risks
- Facilitating process and system mapping, analysis, and improvement efforts
- Must be willing and able to travel 15% if needed
- Must be willing and able to work at the CSC-Willis Tower in Chicago, IL as a hybrid work schedule 2-3 days in office
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
- MBA or Master's degree in related field
- Demonstrated successful execution using SDLC, PMLC, DMAIC or DFSS methodology
- Project Management (PMI) Certification
- Lean Six Sigma certification
- Demonstrated experience executing work using SDLC, DMAIC, or DFSS methodologies
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and practices
- Ability to apply United's Program Management framework (EDBA), PMLC methodology, and applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines
Knowledge of PMBOK practices and standards
The base pay range for this role is $127,870.00 to $166,492.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
