Process Coach of Material Planning & Logistics-Planta Ford Irapuato
The Process Coach of MP&L is responsible for leading the daily internal logistics operations within the Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L) function, ensuring the correct execution of receiving, shipping, market, and buffer processes to prevent production line stoppages. In this role, you will supervise a team of 30 to 50 hourly operators and technicians, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, delivery, cost, maintenance, and people standards. You will lead daily start-up, close-up and shutdown operations, drive continuous improvement initiatives, manage the versatility matrix and development of your team, and act as a liaison between the work team, plant leadership, and the union to foster a stable, high-performing work environment.
Safety
- Confirm shift start-up status and verify the team's understanding and application of Safety Values.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards (JSA – Job Safety Analysis).
- Lead incident and accident investigations (OSHIM – GPA).
- Lead by example, avoiding unsafe acts and conditions (cell phone use, mobile equipment, etc.).
- Follow up on and participate in safety activities (talks, courses, standards).
Quality
- Ensure compliance with logistics delivery standards to customers.
- Create and maintain up-to-date work instructions for the different activities within the area.
- Ensure proper handling of materials in markets and buffers.
- Provide support in the analysis of rejections and customer complaints related to logistics issues.
- Apply segregation and reporting processes for nonconforming material received from suppliers.
- Report discrepancies in material receipt and communicate them to suppliers through the Penske team.
- Ensure the cleanliness of internal containers, preventing contaminated containers from reaching the point of use.
- Ensure compliance with applicable CT-PAT standards for the operation.
Delivery
- Ensure the daily start-up and shutdown of operations together with the work team.
- Efficiently manage receiving, shipping, market, and buffer operations.
- Ensure the correct execution of EWM operations and maintain system integrity.
- Lead daily operations meetings with Team Leaders.
- Understand the production plan to support appropriate decision-making.
- Ensure timely completion of transport loading and unloading.
- Prevent production line stoppages resulting from inefficiencies in internal logistics processes.
- Report and escalate any critical material detected in the operation in a timely manner.
Cost
- Drive continuous improvement in internal logistics processes.
- Prevent material scrap resulting from internal logistics handling failures.
- Avoid overtime caused by logistics operational inefficiencies.
Maintenance
- Promptly report malfunctions of industrial mobile equipment.
- Ensure the availability of industrial mobile equipment for preventive maintenance.
- Maintain the logistics infrastructure of the area in good condition.
People
- Ensure proper management of union personnel under their supervision.
- Review the Process Job Observation (PJO) daily and align it with the team's versatility matrix.
- Manage the operating personnel's versatility matrix, focused on team development.
- Manage the continuous improvement system (ideas and Kaizen), including submission, recognition, analysis, and feasibility approval.
- Be responsible for compliance with work operation validation standards.
- Maintain availability to rotate shifts according to Manufacturing needs.
- Foster a stable work environment based on organizational behaviors and values, acting as a liaison between the work team (technicians and operators), the plant, and the union.
- Keep the work team informed of relevant company matters.
