Department Overview
Marketing Planning Department is an organization that leads the planning of Rakuten Mobile's plans and product strategies and their implementation.
Your primary responsibilities in the Service Planning and Promotion Division will involve formulating company-wide strategies for Rakuten Mobile and leading discussions with senior management, including the CEO. You will be responsible for planning and executing Rakuten Mobile’s growth strategies by leveraging the Rakuten Group’s collaborative initiatives—which encompass over 70 services—and its customer base of more than 100 million people.
Our mobile business began with the goal of democratizing the mobile market, and as we approach the milestone of 10 million lines, we are now aiming for further growth. Within this section, our Service Strategy Analysis Group is responsible for data analysis, as well as estimating and verifying the effectiveness of strategies and initiatives formulated by each team within the department.
Leveraging the vast big data unique to the Rakuten Group—including user data from Rakuten Mobile, which has surpassed 10 million subscriptions, as well as data from our other diverse business segments—our group provides the analytical support necessary to drive decision-making and propel Rakuten Mobile into its next phase of growth.

Position Details
As a Strategic Data Analyst for Service Planning and Promotion, you will be responsible for the following tasks related to Rakuten Mobile, tailored to your experience and expertise:
- Data Preparation & Visualization: Creating, processing, and visualizing analytical user data using BI tools.
- Performance Forecasting: Estimating the impact of new initiatives based on historical performance data and market trend analysis.
- Strategic Decision Support: Providing actionable insights derived from data analysis to support company-wide strategic decision-making.
- Data-Driven Proposal & Execution: Proposing, executing, and driving initiatives in collaboration with project owners, based on data-backed findings.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Experience in formulating and improving business initiatives based on data analysis.
- Experience in data processing and manipulation using BI tools.
- Experience in developing and maintaining executive-level management dashboards.
- Experience in calculating and forecasting revenue/impact for new business initiatives.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint (Foundational level or above).
- Experience in data aggregation and processing using SQL (Basic level or above).
- Practical experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Marketing, Business Planning, Sales Planning, Service Planning, or Alliance/Partnership Development.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in strategic planning or business development.
- Background in top-tier consulting firms, or experience within a CEO’s Office or Corporate Planning department at a major corporation.
- Practical experience in project management.
- Strong logical thinking and planning capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments, coordinate with multiple departments, and drive solutions independently.
- Business-level proficiency in English.
- Professional experience in the telecommunications industry.
- Knowledge of and experience in the mobile industry.
- Experience in data aggregation and processing using Python (Basic level or above).
- Skills in applying AI tools/technologies to drive business operations.
