Accountabilities
- Manage declaratory relief action claims from assignment through resolution, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal standards.
- Analyze complex insurance policies, underwriting documentation, litigation materials, and claim files to determine appropriate coverage positions and claim strategies.
- Develop, implement, and oversee litigation management plans while coordinating with outside counsel and ensuring legal activities align with organizational objectives.
- Monitor legal expenses, evaluate budgets, and manage external vendors to maintain cost-effective claim handling practices.
- Partner with underlying claims adjusters and analytical teams to assess litigation exposure, identify settlement opportunities, and support informed decision-making.
- Represent organizational coverage positions confidently during depositions and other legal proceedings.
- Stay current with legal developments, industry trends, and emerging issues affecting declaratory relief actions and long-tail liability claims.
- Leverage AI-powered tools and digital resources to improve efficiency, analysis, and overall claims management.
- 7–10 years of experience handling litigated insurance claims, particularly long-tail liability matters with progressively increasing responsibility.
- Strong technical expertise in asbestos, pollution, health hazard (APH), sexual abuse, or other complex liability claims.
- Advanced understanding of liability insurance policy language, coverage interpretation, and declaratory judgment litigation.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex claims within a highly regulated insurance environment.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.
- Willingness to travel occasionally as business needs require.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future employment sponsorship.
- Competitive base salary ranging from $90,400 to $150,600, based on experience, skills, and geographic location.
