This role partners closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, and Program teams to validate technical capability, assess risks, and ensure suppliers meet configuration, performance, and manufacturing readiness requirements. This engineer supports evaluation, testing, RCCA validation, and qualification of new or existing suppliers to meet program cost, schedule, and quality needs.

What You Will Do

  • Execute second‑source and alternate‑source qualification projects in partnership with Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality organizations.

  • Evaluate supplier technical capability, manufacturing processes, and readiness to meet program requirements.

  • Interpret technical data packages, drawings, specifications, and standards to ensure supplier alignment and configuration compliance.

  • Lead or support component- and system-level testing to validate performance, reliability, and integration compatibility for new sources.

  • Conduct technical reviews, witness critical process steps, and assess supplier validation evidence as needed.

  • Lead or support structured root-cause and corrective‑action (RCCA) activities with suppliers to resolve technical gaps.

  • Develop and maintain qualification plans, schedules, and risk registers to ensure timely execution of supplier onboarding.

  • Partner with cross‑functional teams—including mechanical, electrical, software, and test engineering—to validate manufacturability and resolve technical issues.

  • Document results and communicate technical status, risks, and recommendations to program leadership.

  • Contribute to source‑to‑scale and capacity‑unlock initiatives to ensure supplier readiness for production ramp.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience

  • Experience in mechanical or systems engineering, hardware development, or component qualification

  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and test requirements

  • Experience leading technical projects or engineering activities through cross‑functional coordination

  • Experience with second‑source, alternate‑source, or supplier qualification activities.

  • Experience working with suppliers or subcontractors, including technical oversight, product integration, or manufacturing support

  • Problem‑solving skills, including experience supporting or driving RCCA, validation, or design‑for‑manufacture/assembly (DFMA) and producibility improvements

  • Experience managing schedules, risks, and deliverables in a fast‑paced, multi‑stakeholder environment

  • Experience communicating and documenting complex information to technical audiences

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Materials Science

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, industrial equipment, or other highly regulated hardware environments

  • Hands‑on test experience, including test planning, data review, and qualification/report generation

  • Agile or SAFe experience; Scrum Master, SPC, or PMP certification

  • Experience in system integration, mechanical design, electronics packaging, or multi‑disciplinary hardware development

  • Experience identifying process improvements, cost‑savings opportunities, or innovation initiatives

  • Experience with proposal development, technical reviews, or configuration
