Your role and responsibilities About the Role:The Kora Serverless team has the vision to build the best serverless experience for Kora - Confluent’s cloud native Kafka service. As a Senior Software engineer, you will design and build efficient and performant algorithms for right sizing, load balancing and seamless scalability of Kora. You will be instrumental in driving the vision and roadmap providing technical leadership, mentoring, and enabling a high-performing engineering team to tackle complex distributed data challenges at scale.What You Will Do:Build the software underpinning mission-critical Kora Serverless platform. You will play a crucial role in designing, developing and operationalizing high performance, scalable, reliable and resilient systemsCollaborate effectively across engineering, product, field teams and other key stakeholders to create and execute impactful roadmap for the Kora Serverless team.Meet and exceed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for critical cloud services owned by the Kora Serverless team.Evaluate and enhance the efficiency of our platform's technology stack, keeping pace with industry trends and adopting state-of-the-art solutionsProvide technical leadership, mentorship and drive strong teamwork Required education Bachelor's Degree Preferred education Master's Degree Required technical and professional expertise  BS, MS or PhD in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience10+ years of relevant software development experienceExperience with designing, building, and scaling distributed systemsDeep technical expertise in large scale distributed systemsExperience running production services in the cloud with demonstrated operational excellenceProficiency in Java, ScalaAbility to influence the team, peers, and management using effective communication and collaborative techniquesProven experience in leading and mentoring technical teams   Preferred technical and professional experience A strong background in distributed storage systems or databasesExperience in the areas of load balancing stateful distributed systemsExperience developing SaaS services on public clouds providers(AWS, Azure or GCP)Interest in evangelism (giving talks at tech conferences, writing blog posts evangelizing Kafka) Years of Experience:10 - 15 ABOUT BUSINESS UNIT IBM Software infuses core business operations with intelligence—from machine learning to generative AI—to help make organizations more responsive, productive, and resilient.
