JOB TITLE: Production assistant

ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM:

TelevisaUnivision is seeking a production assistant with a strong news judgement for Daily Hire. This position will be responsible for shooting, editing, and covering breaking news in a fast-paced environment in Kern County. We are looking for a team player who is a self-starter and is able to work independently or with the team. Respond to breaking news in a timely manner and be flexible. 

ABOUT YOU:

The ideal candidate must be able to deal with various strong and dynamic personalities. This is a demanding position in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone who can work independently while also being part of a team environment. Important traits include being communicative, resourceful, innovative, collaborative, and detail oriented.

JOB RESPONSABILITIES:

• Respond quickly to breaking news shoot interviews, b-roll , edit and set up live shots 
• Go to news sites in all types of weather and capture newsworthy events as they happen
• Meet daily deadlines in a high-pressure news environment
• Work collaboratively with talent, photographers, producers, technical director, and news director and able to take story from concept to completion independently
• Maintain assigned equipment and vehicles and operate in a safe manner
• Able to improvise when situation warrants and troubleshoot 
• Work well with digital cameras to shoot interviews
• Operate a LiveU backpack

YOU HAVE:

• Bilingual English/Spanish
• Must have working knowledge of television news photography and technology
• Be able to lift and carry broadcast video equipment (approximately 45 pounds)
• Must have and maintain a good driving record and a valid driver’s license
• Familiar with the Kern County area
• Adobe Premier proficiency
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
• Must be able to multi-task, work well under extreme pressure, and communicate effectively
• Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States

This position will require the employee to be part or join the KABE bargaining unit.
