This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Platform Automation Engineer based in the United States.

This role sits at the core of a modern cloud engineering organization, focused on building and scaling infrastructure-as-code foundations that enable fast, secure, and consistent platform delivery. You will design and maintain highly reusable Terraform modules that standardize how infrastructure is provisioned across multiple teams and environments. The work spans cloud, security, networking, and DevOps practices, with a strong emphasis on automation, governance, and reliability at scale. You will play a key role in eliminating manual provisioning and replacing it with robust, versioned, and policy-driven infrastructure workflows. This is a highly technical, hands-on engineering role that blends software engineering discipline with cloud infrastructure expertise. You will collaborate closely with security and platform teams while mentoring others and helping define engineering standards across the organization.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will design, build, and evolve a scalable infrastructure-as-code ecosystem using Terraform, ensuring consistency, security, and efficiency across cloud environments. You will be responsible for creating reusable modules, establishing CI/CD pipelines, and enforcing policy-as-code to govern infrastructure changes.

    • Design and maintain modular, production-grade Terraform code across multi-account and multi-environment cloud setups
    • Build reusable Terraform modules with clear interfaces, versioning, and documentation standards
    • Implement CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Terraform Cloud, or Spacelift
    • Enforce policy-as-code using tools like OPA, Sentinel, or Checkov to ensure compliance and security guardrails
    • Manage Terraform state at scale, including backend configuration, locking, and workspace strategy
    • Drive infrastructure standardization across identity, networking, security, and provisioning patterns
    • Lead migrations from manual or legacy infrastructure to fully automated IaC-based systems
    • Collaborate with security, networking, and platform teams to embed best practices into reusable components
    • Support cost optimization, tagging strategy, and lifecycle governance across infrastructure resources
    • Provide technical leadership through reviews, mentorship, and documentation of engineering standards
    • Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on Terraform expertise combined with strong software engineering practices and a proven track record of building scalable infrastructure systems in production environments. You are comfortable working across cloud platforms, automation pipelines, and infrastructure governance frameworks.

      • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or infrastructure automation with strong Terraform focus
      • Proven experience building and maintaining production-grade Terraform at scale
      • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and core infrastructure primitives
      • Expertise in Terraform module design, state management, and workspace strategies
      • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Go, or Bash
      • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure automation
      • Solid understanding of cloud networking, IAM, and security best practices
      • Experience implementing policy-as-code frameworks (OPA, Sentinel, Checkov, or similar)
      • Strong Git workflows including branching, pull requests, and code review practices
      • Excellent troubleshooting skills with a focus on root-cause analysis in complex environments
      • Benefits:

        • Competitive salary aligned with experience ($100K–$150K range)
        • Fully remote work across the United States
        • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
        • Retirement and savings plan options
        • Opportunities for technical leadership and career growth
        • Exposure to large-scale, multi-cloud infrastructure environments
        • Flexible work culture with emphasis on engineering autonomy and impact
        • Access to modern DevOps and infrastructure tooling
