Accountabilities:

    The Director, Finance and Contracts will oversee financial strategy, contract operations, compliance frameworks, and business support functions. This role requires a combination of executive partnership, financial expertise, operational leadership, and experience navigating government contracting environments.

    • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership by translating financial data, cost structures, contract requirements, and performance metrics into actionable business insights.
    • Develop and maintain long-term financial models, scenario planning tools, cash flow projections, and growth strategies to support organizational expansion.
    • Prepare executive-level financial reporting, dashboards, portfolio analyses, and risk assessments to support informed decision-making.
    • Lead the implementation and adoption of financial systems, ERP platforms, and project accounting tools to improve reporting, compliance, and operational visibility.
    • Oversee company-wide financial performance, including revenue tracking, margin analysis, profitability monitoring, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
    • Manage DCAA-compliant accounting practices, ensuring proper classification of direct costs, indirect costs, overhead, G&A expenses, and unallowable costs.
    • Develop and maintain indirect rate structures to support profitability analysis, proposal development, and government reporting requirements.
    • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, audit preparation, financial reviews, and coordination with external accounting partners.
    • Establish and maintain compliant expense, travel, procurement, and financial governance policies aligned with applicable regulations.
    • Review contracts and subcontracts to identify financial, pricing, and compliance considerations.
    • Develop proposal pricing strategies, cost volumes, labor rate structures, indirect rate applications, and pricing models for government opportunities.
    • Act as a financial liaison with clients, teaming partners, and external stakeholders to support proposal strategies and business relationships.
    • Oversee federal and state tax compliance activities, including coordination with external accounting advisors.
    • Mentor and guide finance team members while improving processes, workload distribution, and financial reporting capabilities.
    • Support strategic program governance, including financial reporting requirements related to partnership structures, joint ventures, and government programs.
    • Lead cross-functional financial policy development, procurement controls, and operational improvements.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate is a finance leader with strong accounting expertise, government contracting experience, and the ability to build scalable systems within a growing organization. The role requires excellent analytical skills, business judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

      • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field required.
      • 8+ years of progressive financial management and accounting experience.
      • Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting federal government contracting operations.
      • Working knowledge of FAR Part 31 requirements and DCAA-compliant accounting practices.
      • Experience developing cost volumes and pricing strategies for federal proposals, including cost-plus, time-and-materials, and firm-fixed-price contract types.
      • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, including allowable versus unallowable costs and cost allocation methodologies.
      • Experience managing relationships with external CPA firms, accounting providers, and financial partners.
      • Proficiency with expense management platforms such as Expensify or similar tools.
      • Familiarity with time tracking and project accounting systems such as Harvest, Unanet, Deltek, or comparable GovCon platforms.
      • Experience implementing or optimizing ERP and financial reporting systems.
      • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
      • Ability to manage competing priorities while operating independently in a fast-paced environment.
      • Interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to improve financial analysis, pricing models, and operational workflows.
      • Preferred experience working within a small, rapidly growing professional services or consulting organization.
      • Familiarity with Mentor-Protégé programs, SBA 8(a) structures, joint ventures, and related government reporting requirements is highly valued.
      • Professional certifications such as CPA, CFCM, CPCM, or similar credentials are preferred but not required.
