How you’ll make an impact in this role
- Translate complex patient charts into precise diagnostic and procedural codes, ensuring patient care journeys are accurately documented for seamless claim processing and document retrieval.
- Collaborate directly with providers to clarify ambiguous or incomplete documentation, ensuring every clinical story is told with absolute accuracy and integrity.
- Conduct clinical chart audits and lead collaborative educational sessions for physicians and staff to elevate our documentation standards and coding accuracy.
- Maintain high-quality benchmarks for coding productivity and accuracy, directly supporting the financial health and operational success of our care facilities.
- Uphold ethical coding standards by strictly aligning all workflows with official industry guidelines and keeping ahead of shifting reimbursement requirements.
What minimum requirements you’ll need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
One or more of the following:
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentialed from the American Health Information Management
Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. - Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentialed from the American Academy of Professional Coders
(AAPC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. - Coder obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Reg Health Info Admnstr credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association
(AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. - Reg Health Info Tech credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association
(AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
