The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer-Developer to join the Special Projects Dallas (SPD) P-8A Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) Mission Systems Software Engineering team located in Richardson, TX. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
The candidate will provide technical leadership of software engineering activities in support of multiple product lines. The candidate will conduct software development and implementation activities of scientific applications & algorithms, real-time sensor control and sensor data product exploitation, and integrate advances in mission planning and support the implementation of emerging machine learning technologies. The candidate in this role coordinates algorithm development efforts with the software engineering solution by guiding the implementation team and representing the Boeing company at industry events that shape the future of technology insertion into fleet products. The candidate will provide critical senior leadership in integrating real time algorithm components into the mission systems software baselines and will support the development and maintenance of algorithm description design information and documentation for current and next generation capabilities.
Position Responsibilities:
Partnering with hardware, software, operator machine interface, and systems engineering to design, develop, troubleshoot, and test P-8A AAS mission systems software
Lead the team on the system software architecture & design, integrating applications and performing engineering activities in a complex computing environment.
Provide on-site/in-person software systems support, including troubleshooting, analysis of test results, and related configuration management activities.
Analyze and implement requirements to ensure system complies with system & sensor performance objectives.
Evaluation of design and analysis results related to system performance challenges and technical risks.
Effective communication & collaboration with senior management and technical leaders in the Boeing company and in the scientific algorithm community in support of AAS mission.
Leads basis of estimate preparations and conducts software research and trade studies in analysis of alternative solutions.
Contribute as a lead subject matter expert in development of software and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system, and the development of system verification plans, test procedures and test environments.
Analyzes results from system test execution of performance testing and documentation of test results to ensure software system requirements are met or exceeded.
Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.
Tracks and evaluates the software team performance and industry-partner participation to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.
Trains and mentors others
Works under consultative direction
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s Degree
This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
12+ years’ experience in software development
7+ years’ experience using Java
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 14+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 18+ years of directly related work experience OR 22+ years of related, relevant experience
12+ years’ experience with development of Jave, C/C++ and/or Linux Operating Systems
Experience in AGILE/DevOps methodologies
Experience in Real-Time Algorithm implementation
Experience in Development, documentation and maintenance of software architecture requirements, interfaces and designs for software systems
