Location: Walnut Creek

Salary: $190,000 - $230,000 (Commensurate with experience and qualifications)

Job Summary

This individual has overall responsibility for managing a team of commercial lenders. We expect this individual to ensure the growth of the portfolio through the commercial lenders solicitation of new loans from existing customers and business owners as well as establishing new key relationships and increase their book of business. The incumbent will perform regularly scheduled business development calls with lenders and promote F&M Bank’s services including Treasury Management and Retail products. They should be able to demonstrate negotiating and leadership skills while discussing credit, negotiating fees and interest rates. They should also have a strong understanding of commercial lending policies, programs and procedures, and the ability to follow federal and state regulations and laws.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial lenders, review business relationships, handle complex workouts and solicit new business. Be cognizant of all negotiations and follow through from start to finish the preliminary credit analysis, entire loan process and bookings of new commercial loans.
  • Ensure that commercial lenders expand and develop effective business relationships and trust with clients and potential clients by listening and uncovering their needs while also educating the client on all bank products and services offered including Treasury and Retail Bank products.
  • Responsible for understanding quality of the credit portfolio and making credit solution recommendations ensuring credit has accurate risk rating.
  • Work closely with credit administrators and other support personnel to assure high level of quality in each credit application presented for approval. Review all credit presentations produced in the unit.
  • Interact with Senior Management as needed to discuss concepts, issues, opportunities, problems and strategies to ensure adherence to credit policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for unit growth goals. Loan Outstanding’s, Demand Deposits and Fees.


  • Must prepare weekly review and maintain accurate reporting of pipeline. Prospects, Pending and Boarded Loans, Expected Payoffs and Pay downs at a minimum.
  • Must prepare action plans to ensure that past due loans are not present at month/quarter end. 
  • Is responsible for completing overall maintenance on existing loans as needed to ensure compliance
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education & Skills Required 

Education and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance related field. A Master’s degree is preferred but not required.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Financial Institution or other related area.
  • Must have prior experience managing, maintaining, and growing large portfolios.
  • Must have excellent leadership, written and verbal skills. 
  • Must be able to use various Bank related PC applications including, but not limited to the following: Windows, E-mail, SilverLake, Streamline, Jack Henry, Word processing, EXCEL and data entry.

  • Must possess the ability to organize projects, prioritize workflow and complete multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately.
  • The Market Manager is expected to be a visible leader within the Bank and the local community.
