SAFETY OFFICER
Sandvik Mining and Construction DRC is a Sales Unit based in Lubumbashi, within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, a Business Area, a leading supplier of equipment and tools, service and support for the mining industry. We also provide solutions and expertise across a wide range of applications, including rock drilling, rock cutting, loading and hauling, tunnelling, and quarrying.

Scope
To ensure compliance with all Sandvik, Customer and Legal Requirements through implementing SHEQ processes, systems & standards.
This service is rendered to Sandvik Mining & Construction clients (internal & external), on and off site, according to Sandvik Mining & Construction and client’s requirements and specifications
Main responsibilities:
Review and implement both Sandvik and customer SHEQ policies and procedures.
Conduct Baseline, Issue-based and Continual risk assessments for the site.
Develop and maintain the site-specific EHS Risk Register
Drive SHEQ Performance by ensuring all required Key Performance Indicators are met.
Align and ensure Sandvik and customer EHS Plans are developed and implemented.
Compile and ensure compliance with the customer EHS File (Customer Contractor File)
Conduct Induction and ensure all other required EHS training is conducted for the site.
Conduct a training needs assessment for the site for approval.
Ensure workplace and equipment inspections are conducted for the site.
Ensure site EHS meetings are conducted at all levels of the organisation.
Initiate, review and maintain documented information for EHS on site.
Update leading and lagging indicators and upload evidence on the Sandvik EHS Database
Compile weekly, monthly, and quarterly EHS reports as required by Key Stakeholders.
Conduct/Participate in EHS internal audits and develop corrective/preventive actions on Non-Conformances.
Conduct Incident investigations as required and develop continual improvement initiatives.
Ensure required supervisors/managers conduct planned inspections, task observations and other Visible Felt Leadership programmes.
Monitor compliance with applicable internal and external issues, legal and other compliance obligations.
Maintain and ensure all EHS Records (Inspections, Audits, Non-Conformances, Incidents & Improvement actions) are maintained.
Profile
You are a Congolese citizen and a collaborative, results‑oriented EHS professional, strongly committed to teamwork and adept at working effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. You possess solid knowledge of DRC legislation, mining regulations, and EHS-related legal requirements, enabling the organisation to maintain compliance and adapt to regulatory changes.
You have a thorough understanding of Environment, Health, Safety and Quality (EHSQ) principles, risk management concepts, and international standards, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001. You are an effective communicator, capable of clearly conveying, receiving, and accurately interpreting information at all levels of the business.
You demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build constructive relationships while working collaboratively across functions. With a creative, flexible, and solution-oriented mindset, you can adapt to changing business needs and operational challenges.
You are committed to continuous professional development, proactively expanding your knowledge and skills to support SHEQ objectives and business growth. You possess a strong customer-service orientation and consistently strive to meet or exceed stakeholder expectations. Additionally, you are skilled in coaching and mentoring, motivating individuals and teams to achieve improved performance, engagement, and compliance outcomes.
Experience
Previous experience as an EHS Officer or in a similar EHS role.
Strong knowledge of mining regulations and compliance requirements.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Education
Diploma or Degree in Safety, Health, Environment and Quality, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.organisation
