Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Enterprise IT Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide expert-level guidance, technical leadership, and domain knowledge across complex IT environments. This role is responsible for advising senior stakeholders, shaping enterprise architectures, optimizing IT operations, advising on bid strategy and solutioning, and supporting mission-critical initiatives. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise across enterprise infrastructure, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, and IT service delivery within large-scale, multi-site environments. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the visionary authority for enterprise IT systems, architectures, and modernization efforts.
  • Provide strategic guidance to executives, program managers, engineering teams, and stakeholders on enterprise IT best practices, standards, and emerging technologies.
  • Advise on bid strategy and solutioning in the analysis, design, and development of enterprise-wide IT solutions, ensuring alignment with business and mission objectives.
  • Evaluate current-state systems and recommend improvements in scalability, security, performance, automation, and cost efficiency.
  • Contribute to architecture documentation, roadmaps, technical assessments, white papers, and briefings.
  • Advise on cloud migration, hybrid architectures, virtualization, network modernization, and enterprise cybersecurity strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, cybersecurity, and program leadership.
  • Participate in technical reviews, risk assessments, and governance boards.
  • Stay current with industry trends, federal standards, and best practices to ensure continuous improvement across enterprise IT capabilities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 16+ years of progressive experience in enterprise IT, systems engineering, network architecture, or related areas.
  • Proven experience advising and designing solutions in large, distributed enterprise environments.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), virtualization, networking, storage, and enterprise security.
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL frameworks, enterprise architecture methodologies (e.g., TOGAF), and system lifecycle processes.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions, influence decision-making, and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Establish, build, and maintain positive, professional relationships and interaction at all decision levels
  • Maintain a highly credible professional profile within the industry
  • Ability to communicate issues, concerns, risks, and problems in a solution-oriented manner
  • Experience applying AI Tool Capabilities (OpenAI, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) in execution of capture activities
  • Experience supporting federal, defense, or intelligence community environments.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for client engagement and pursuit activities
  • Must reside in the greater Washington DC metro area
  • Must hold security clearance at the level of Top Secret/SCI w/ poly

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, AWS Solutions Architect, CCNP, PMP, ITIL Expert, TOGAF).
  • Familiarity with zero trust architectures, automation frameworks, DevSecOps, containerization, and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Demonstrated capacity to stay on top of current trends, issues, and technologies in mission areas
  • Ability to positively communicate with, inspire, and motivate all levels of staff
  • Demonstrated ability to think outside the box, acting strategically and proactively

Target Salary Range

$229,000 - $366,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
