Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Neurodiagnostic Tech, you will perform specialized tests like EEGs, providing crucial data for diagnosing neurological conditions.

 

Every day you will prepare patients, monitor neurological activity, manage equipment, and process data for physician review.

 

To be successful in this role, you need strong technical skills, neuroanatomy knowledge, and problem-solving abilities. Compassionate care, attention to detail, and effective communication are paramount for accurate diagnoses.

  • Accurately schedules appointments for out-patients via phone for Neurodiagnostic procedures at MSJMC with no more than 3-4 errors in a 6 month period. 
  • Assures pre-authorization is completed prior to appointment.
  • Correctly places electrodes in all testing modalities with 95% accuracy, this is determined by random sampling.
  • Assures physicians order includes all required elements. 
  • Demonstrates competence in care of neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients. 
  • Tests are relatively free of artifact, recorded notes are accurate and complete, test is run the appropriate amount of time, patients are stimulated during test if appropriate and record is downloaded into computer system for physician interpretation within one (1) hour of completion. 

Job Requirements

Required

  • ABRET Eligibility: Must be eligible to sit for the ABRET EEG exam by meeting one of the following criteria:
  • Graduation from a CAAHEP accredited Electroneurodiagnostics program.
  • Or an Associate's degree and one (1) year of experience in Electroneurodiagnostics.
  • Or three (3) years of experience in Electroneurodiagnostics.
  • Or a minimum of one (1) year of direct experience performing Electroneurodiagnostic studies (Neurodiagnostics).
  • Or completion of one (1) year of education from an accredited ABRET approved institution in Neurodiagnostics..
  • Clinical Skills: Demonstrated ability to perform EEGs on adult and pediatric patients (specific facility needs may apply to patient populations).
  • BLS from the American Heart Association.

 

Preferred

  • Associate of Science Degree from an accredited College with a major in neurodiagnostics, biomedical technology or general science or higher. 
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in an EEG Lab.
  • Registered EEG Technologist (REEGT)
