As an Executive Director, Head of Business Growth & Entrepreneurship in U.S. Philanthropy, you will lead a high-impact portfolio focused on expanding access to resources, capital, and opportunities for underserved small businesses and entrepreneurs. You will lead the firm’s philanthropy strategy to foster business creation, growth, and sustainability by increasing access to capital, strengthening entrepreneurial ecosystems, and supporting pathways to long-term business success—particularly for businesses that have historically faced barriers to growth.

 

You will manage a team that designs and executes major initiatives and partners with government, philanthropic, nonprofit, corporate, industry, and community leaders to deliver innovative solutions at scale. Your responsibilities include strategy development and analysis, strategic grantmaking and program design, and thought leadership across a large, multifaceted organization. You’ll collaborate with JPMorgan Chase’s most senior executives to evaluate market trends, policies, and ecosystem gaps, assess implications for the firm and the communities we serve, and shape strategies that advance inclusive economic growth and opportunity.

 

The Corporate Responsibility team at JPMorgan Chase advances a stronger, more inclusive economy and society for clients, customers, and communities globally. The Global Philanthropy team consists of Employee Engagement & Volunteerism, Impact Finance, and grantmaking teams at the national and local levels. The Business Growth & Entrepreneurship team’s core functions are to develop and execute strategies that support underserved small businesses, evaluate and manage grant portfolios, and provide thought leadership on inclusive entrepreneurship, small business growth, and economic mobility.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and lead major initiatives that expand access to capital, improve the efficiency and scale of support systems for underserved small businesses, and strengthen outcomes for entrepreneurs across growth stages

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing team of program officers and associates

  • In collaboration with business leaders, design, evaluate, and lead execution of strategic entrepreneurship initiatives and identify where JPMC products and services can drive complementary impact for underserved business owners

  • Partner with Corporate Responsibility leaders, government agencies, industry stakeholders, and nonprofit organizations to inform policies that support inclusive business growth and entrepreneurship

  • Establish portfolio priorities and make strategic recommendations regarding investments, partnerships, and resource allocation, balancing impact opportunities, organizational capacity, and risk considerations

  • Serve as lead relationship manager with key external partners and leaders across the firm

  • Maintain strong governance, risk management, and grantmaking controls across the portfolio, ensuring responsible stewardship of philanthropic resources and compliance with firm standards and Corporate Responsibility procedures

  • Monitor external environment for economic trends, ecosystem gaps, and partnership opportunities related to small business growth; share insights with key line of business partners

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and representative of the firm on issues related to underserved small business growth, access to capital, and inclusive entrepreneurship with external partners, policymakers, and industry stakeholders

 

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 15+ years of experience in small business development, entrepreneurship, or inclusive economic opportunity initiatives, including leading large-scale programs

  • Deep understanding of financial products and services that support underserved small businesses (e.g., access to credit, capital solutions, CDFIs, technical assistance)

  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive results across a complex matrix organization
  • Experience managing large-scale portfolios and making strategic resource allocation decisions

  • Experience leading high-performing teams, with a strong commitment to coaching, mentorship, and talent development

  • Track record of successful partnerships that expand opportunity and access for underserved small businesses

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative, cross-functional environment

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
