This position is located in the Office of Inspector General, Office of Audit - Recycling, Cleanup, and Pollution Prevention Directorate. The Office of Inspector General is an independent office within EPA that helps the agency protect the environment more efficiently & cost-effective. We consist of auditors, program analysts, investigators, & others with extensive expertise. Although a part of EPA, to ensure our independence, Congress provides us with our funding separate from the agency.
As a SUPERVISORY AUDITOR GS-0511-14 your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision: Ability to lead and conduct complex audits of programs, functions and operations using performance audit, and evaluation techniques, to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Ability to provide technical and administrative leadership of an audit team, including providing recommendations, follow up, and ensuring necessary corrective action has been taken. Ensure work complies with legal and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) Auditing Standards as issued by The Government Accountability Office (GAO), the Government Performance and Results Act, and other regulations, principles, precedents, and policies to analyze and solve complex and sensitive problems and issues. Ability to communicate with multidisciplinary staff and high-level officials to advocate support, provide guidance and make recommendations to resolve sensitive and/or controversial program issues and to negotiate and persuade key leaders to adopt certain approaches. Skill in writing clear and concise communications, such as policies, reports, and memoranda for different audience levels using various forms of software.
