About the Role: 

The Anesthesia Director of Operations (ADO) is responsible for regional business development and operational support as well as financial management of Sound Anesthesia Programs. The ADO will focus on establishing professional relationships with Sound Anesthesia leadership, Sound central support services, the Anesthesia provider team and hospital executives. The ADO will work closely with Anesthesia clinical leadership to facilitate successful results for each Anesthesia program.  In collaboration with the Sound Anesthesia SVP of Operations, the ADO will assist in building foundational business development processes, endeavor to build client alignment and satisfaction, grow profit, utilize and advance management information systems, drive process consistency as well as improvement and lead business management systems.

Key responsibilities will include managing the drivers of P+L performance, providing financial, operational and performance insight to clinical leadership, client service and communication, advancing performance management initiatives with the goal of building client acknowledged value, contract negotiations, and managing support from central service departments.  The ADO will report to the Sound Anesthesia SVP of Operations.

Details:

This is a remote position that requires regular travel within the assigned region. Candidates should expect to be on-site at program locations a minimum of 1-2 times per month, with more frequent in-person visits required for those located within close proximity to program sites.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Many or all of the following are done under the direction and in collaboration with both the Sound Anesthesia SVP of Operations, Sound Anesthesia CEO, and Sound Anesthesia clinical leadership.

  • Review all relevant business data including program volume, patient acuity, provider productivity, provider documentation reports, revenue cycle, staffing and scheduling forecasts and provider cost reports.
  • Synthesize business data to provide insights to clinical leadership to support optimal business results.
  • Educate clinical leadership on business drivers and financial impact of operational metrics.
  • Identify and problem solve day-to-day site operations including matters related to payroll, credentialing, human resources, recruiting , etc. with assistance of central office departments. Assist clinical leadership with executional support in these areas.
  • Review site financial statements for accuracy and trends to explain financial performance. Identify and understand the impact of variances, and enact plans to address negative variances.
  • Proactively review programs for improvement opportunities and share ideas with Sound Anesthesia leadership.
  • Develop annual budgets and have shared responsibility for P&L performance for programs.
  • Create and review proposals for new business and expansion of current business, including financial pro forma development process. Understand the financial and operational impacts of program changes, as well as pricing.
  • Lead & organize data discovery process related to new business development.
  • Collaborate with Sound Anesthesia CEO and Sound Business Development team to maintain & optimize Salesforce reporting.
  • Collaborate with Sound Anesthesia SVP of Operations, Sound Financial Operations, Sound Revenue Cycle and Sound Business Development team to optimize integrity and accuracy of pro forma development process.
  • Manage business and financial contract elements with clients where applicable, including revenue sharing, cost sharing and reporting to clients.
  • Assist in contract negotiation processes where applicable for client contract renewals and amendments.
  • Assist in new site implementations in conjunction with Sound Anesthesia implementation team and central support departments.
  • Manage working relationships with Sound central support departments directed at achieving outcomes, building efficiency, accurate status reporting smooth escalation pathways and driving process improvement initiatives.

 

Knowledge and Experience:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in business administration, healthcare administration or similar field


Experience 
Minimum: 3+ years' experience working with healthcare business development and/or operational management with working knowledge of hospital and healthcare environments. 

Salary Range 

  • $125,000- 160,000 annually.  This position is also eligible for a bonus opportunity.  Exact pay will be determined based on candidate experience, geographical location, and size/complexity of the program(s) being supported.
