Accountabilities:
- Design, build, and maintain large-scale crawling, indexing, ranking, and retrieval systems.
- Improve search performance by reducing latency, optimizing costs, and increasing reliability as usage grows.
- Enhance ranking quality, relevance, and freshness for AI-powered search experiences.
- Own engineering projects end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with technical leadership and engineering teams to define priorities and shape the search roadmap.
- Identify complex technical challenges independently and transform ambiguous problems into scalable solutions.
- 3+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of system design, scalability, reliability, and performance optimization.
- Experience developing services that operate at significant scale with attention to latency, cost, and correctness.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, and deliver solutions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a mindset focused on experimentation, measurement, and continuous iteration.
- Comfortable working on complex, evolving technical challenges without requiring fully defined specifications.
- Experience with search systems, crawling, indexing pipelines, or retrieval technologies is a strong advantage.
- Competitive compensation package with a salary range of $190,000–$260,000/year, adjusted based on location and market conditions.
