Build the Future of Data & AI at Enterprise Scale
U.S. Bank is seeking a Senior Data Engineering Architect to lead a small team of Data Architects while defining and advancing the architecture strategy for modern data and AI platforms. This role combines people leadership, technical architecture, and strategic influence to help accelerate delivery of scalable data products, analytics capabilities, and AI-enabled solutions across the organization.
As the architecture leader, you will partner with engineering, product, data science, and business stakeholders to establish target-state architectures, drive modernization initiatives, and develop a high-performing architecture team focused on delivering business outcomes.
What You'll Do
Lead Architecture Strategy & Team Development
- Lead and mentor a team of Data Architects
- Establish architectural standards, best practices, and target-state roadmaps
- Guide architecture reviews and technology decisions across multiple initiatives
Own Data & AI Architecture
- Define and evolve enterprise data platform architecture, including lakehouse, domain-driven, and reusable data product patterns
- Design scalable solutions supporting analytics, AI, and decision intelligence
Drive Platform Modernization
- Architect batch, real-time, streaming, CDC, and event-driven data solutions
- Lead modernization efforts from legacy platforms to cloud-native environments
Enable Engineering Excellence
- Establish reusable frameworks, architecture patterns, and DataOps standards
- Ensure solutions meet requirements for scalability, reliability, security, compliance, and operational readiness
Partner Across the Enterprise
- Collaborate with product, engineering, data science, and business leaders to translate strategic objectives into technical solutions
- Influence architecture direction and technology adoption across teams
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Eight or more years of relevant experience
Preferred Skills & Experience
Data Platform & Architecture
- Experience designing enterprise-scale data platforms using Databricks, Snowflake, or similar technologies
- Expertise in data architecture, data modeling, semantic layers, and reusable data product design
- Strong background in batch and real-time data processing, streaming, ETL/ELT, CDC, and event-driven architecture
Cloud & Modern Engineering
- Hands-on experience with Azure and/or AWS
- Strong understanding of scalability, reliability, performance, and cost optimization
- Experience with containerization, Kubernetes, Docker, or hybrid/multi-cloud environments
Leadership & Influence
- Experience leading architects, engineers, or technical teams
- Proven ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams and stakeholders
- Strong communication, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills
Data Governance & Operational Excellence
- Experience with DataOps, observability, lineage, data quality, and operational support best practices
- Experience working in regulated environments with governance, security, and compliance considerations
AI & Emerging Technologies
- Experience supporting ML and AI-enabled data platforms
- Exposure to GenAI, LLMs, RAG architectures, ML lifecycle tooling, or AI-assisted development tools
- Interest in using modern engineering workflows and automation to accelerate delivery and improve quality
Location Expectation
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $133,365.00 - $156,900.00U.S. Bank will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records for employment.
